Major expansion with all 18 traits, 9 pairs, 6 categories, and detailed effects on needs, urges, skills, relationships, and emotional tendencies
Every Zoi receives one permanent trait during character creation. This trait cannot be changed after creation and shapes the Zoi's personality throughout their entire life. There are 18 traits total, organized into 9 pairs across 6 categories. Each pair shares a thematic connection but produces different behavioral outcomes. Traits influence need decay rates, skill gain speed, emotional tendencies, relationship dynamics, and which urges appear for the Zoi.
A trait is more than a label. It actively modifies multiple systems. A Zoi with the Scholar trait, for example, gains knowledge-related skills faster, tends toward the Curious and Concentrated emotions, and receives urges related to reading or studying. A Socialite trait Zoi has faster Social need decay (meaning they need social contact more often), forms relationships faster, and gets urges to attend social events or call friends.
Traits also affect how two Zois interact with each other. Some trait combinations create natural chemistry, where both Zois enjoy each other's company more. Other combinations create friction that makes relationship building slower or causes more negative interactions. These compatibilities are not absolute barriers. Any two Zois can form friendships and romances regardless of traits, but compatible traits make it easier.
Adventurers are energetic and thrill-seeking Zois who thrive on new experiences. They gain skills related to physical activities and outdoor pursuits faster. Their Fun need decays more quickly, pushing them to seek entertainment frequently. Adventurers lean toward the Excited and Amused emotions and tend to be bored by repetitive routines. They receive urges to explore new locations, try unfamiliar activities, and attend social events. Adventurers pair well with other outgoing traits and may clash with more reserved personalities.
Entertainers are cheerful and performative Zois who draw energy from making others happy. They excel at social skills and creative pursuits like playing instruments. Their Social need decays faster than average, and they experience the Amused and Content emotions more frequently. Entertainers get urges related to performing, telling jokes, and hosting gatherings. They form relationships with most trait types easily due to their naturally engaging personality.
Authoritarians are commanding and opinionated Zois. They gain leadership-related skills faster and tend toward the Confident emotion. Their Recognition need decays quickly, meaning they crave acknowledgment from others. Authoritarians receive urges to direct other Zois, organize household tasks, and assert their opinions in conversations. They can form strong relationships with Zois who appreciate structure but may conflict with independent-minded traits like Individualist and Visionary.
Leaders are principled and assertive Zois who inspire others through action rather than demands. They gain career-related skills faster and tend toward the Confident and Concentrated emotions. Like Authoritarians, their Recognition need is prominent, but Leaders satisfy it through accomplishment rather than social dominance. They get urges to mentor other Zois, complete challenging tasks, and advance in their career. Leaders are broadly compatible with most trait types.
Charmers are warm and magnetic Zois who put others at ease. They excel at romance-related interactions and gain social skills at an accelerated rate. Their Social need is prominent, and they lean toward the Aflutter and Content emotions. Charmers receive urges to flirt, compliment others, and strengthen relationships. They build romantic connections faster than most other traits and are generally well-liked by all trait types.
Volunteers are generous and community-minded Zois driven by helping others. They gain karma faster from positive actions and tend toward the Moved and Content emotions. Volunteers receive urges to assist neighbors, donate items, and participate in community activities. Their Social need is fulfilled more effectively through acts of service than casual conversation. They pair especially well with other Kind and Generous traits and with Collaborators.
Collaborators are team-oriented Zois who work best alongside others. They gain skills faster when another Zoi is performing the same activity nearby. Their Social need is closely tied to productive group activities rather than purely recreational socializing. Collaborators lean toward the Concentrated and Content emotions when working in groups. They receive urges to join group activities, help with household tasks, and study together. Collaborators have strong compatibility with Volunteers, Leaders, and other Collaborators.
Sentinels are cautious and detail-oriented Zois who prioritize stability and safety. They gain skills related to household maintenance and cooking faster. Their needs decay slightly slower than average across the board, reflecting their measured approach to life. Sentinels lean toward the Tranquil and Concentrated emotions and become Nervous or Worried when household conditions deteriorate. They receive urges to clean, organize, repair, and prepare for future needs.
Dreamers are imaginative and contemplative Zois who spend time in thought and creative pursuits. They gain creative skills faster and tend toward the Sentimental and Curious emotions. Their Fun need is satisfied more by creative activities than social ones. Dreamers receive urges to paint, write, daydream, and explore artistic hobbies. They may form relationships more slowly due to their introverted nature but develop deep connections when they do.
Mediators are peaceful and diplomatic Zois who instinctively seek to resolve conflicts. They gain social skills related to conflict resolution faster and tend toward the Tranquil and Content emotions. Mediators experience negative emotions less intensely than most traits, meaning they are harder to anger or upset. Their Social need is fulfilled effectively by positive group dynamics. They receive urges to calm down upset Zois, resolve arguments, and maintain household harmony. Mediators are broadly compatible with all traits and can ease tensions between Zois with clashing personalities.
Explorers are intellectually curious Zois drawn to discovery and investigation. They gain skills related to knowledge and observation faster. Their Curiosity emotion triggers more frequently, and they lean toward the Excited emotion when encountering new things. Explorers receive urges to visit new locations, try new recipes, learn unfamiliar skills, and examine objects. Their Fun need is satisfied by novelty more than repetition.
Scholars are analytical and studious Zois who prioritize learning and understanding. They gain knowledge-based skills at the fastest rate of any trait. Scholars tend toward the Concentrated and Curious emotions and experience the Bored emotion when unstimulated for long periods. They receive urges to read, study, research topics on their smartphone, and attend university lectures. Their Social need decays slowly, as they are content with solitary pursuits for extended periods.
Go-Getters are driven and goal-oriented Zois focused on career success and personal achievement. They gain career-related skills and work performance faster. Their Recognition need decays quickly, motivating them to achieve and be recognized. Go-Getters lean toward the Confident and Excited emotions when progressing in their careers and become Annoyed or Lethargic when stuck in unfulfilling roles. They receive urges to work overtime, network with colleagues, and pursue promotions.
Socialites are charismatic and status-conscious Zois who thrive in social settings. They form relationships faster than any other trait and gain social skills at an accelerated rate. Their Social need decays the fastest of all traits, requiring frequent interaction to stay satisfied. Socialites lean toward the Amused and Aflutter emotions in social settings and become Sad or Lethargic when isolated. They receive urges to throw parties, attend social events, go shopping, and dine at restaurants.
Individualists are independent and unconventional Zois who resist conformity. They gain skills at a steady rate across all categories rather than excelling in one area. Their Fun need is satisfied by variety and self-expression. Individualists lean toward the Confident emotion and resist emotional contagion from nearby Zois more than other traits. They receive urges to customize their clothing, rearrange furniture, and engage in solitary hobbies. They may clash with Authoritarians but get along well with Dreamers and Visionaries.
Visionaries are innovative and forward-thinking Zois with a focus on creative problem-solving. They gain creative and technical skills faster, including those related to the 3D Printer and modding-adjacent activities. Visionaries lean toward the Curious and Excited emotions and become Bored when stuck in routine tasks. They receive urges to experiment with new approaches, use technology, and create original items. Their Social need decays at a moderate rate, as they balance sociability with focused creative work.
Perfectionists are detail-focused Zois who strive for flawless execution in everything they do. They gain skills slightly slower initially but achieve higher mastery levels than most traits. Their need for Hygiene and household cleanliness decays faster, making them more sensitive to dirty environments. Perfectionists lean toward the Concentrated emotion during focused tasks and become Annoyed when things are disorganized or poorly done. They receive urges to clean, improve quality, redo tasks, and maintain high standards.
Social Activists are principled and community-driven Zois focused on fairness and positive change. They gain karma from helping actions at an accelerated rate and tend toward the Moved and Confident emotions. Their Recognition need is tied to making a difference rather than personal status. Social Activists receive urges to organize community activities, advocate for other Zois, and address household problems proactively. They pair well with Volunteers, Mediators, and Leaders but may conflict with Zois who have lower karma values.
Since traits are permanent and affect every aspect of a Zoi's life, selecting the right trait during character creation is one of the most impactful decisions in the game. Consider the Desired Life you intend to pursue, as each Desired Life recommends specific traits that complement its goals. Also consider the existing household composition: having a mix of complementary traits creates a more balanced and interesting household dynamic, while stacking similar traits can create a focused but potentially lopsided experience.
