Patch 1.0.4 is a post-launch update for Gothic 1 Remake released on July 31, 2026, the fourth numbered patch since launch. It reached PC first; the studio said console versions would follow a little later, and no console date had been announced as of early August 2026. After it installs, the build version shown in the bottom-right corner of the Settings screen reads CL171261, which confirms the update applied. The notes can also be read in-game through the changelog screen added in Patch 1.0.3. For the wider launch timeline, see Release History.
Technical Fixes
The largest block of the patch targets crashes, blockers, and interface issues across the whole game.

Audio | Various audio issues resolved, continuing the work of the July hotfixes. |

Sleeper dreams | The Nameless Hero no longer gets stuck in the Sleeper dreams when knocked down during the dream transition. |
Animations | Seraphia's dancing transition and the transformation transition of Mad Cor Kalom into a demon play correctly, and death animations in water were fixed for several creatures. |

Accessories | Amulet and ring bonuses no longer stay active after unequipping, and swapping a ring between slots no longer duplicates its stat bonuses. |
Equipment display | The equipped bow no longer disappears from the Hero's back when certain spells are equipped, and ore slotted in the action bar no longer shows a quantity of zero in the inventory. |
Saves | Quicksave and quickload stay active during key remapping, and a console-only quicksave error that reported the game could not save anymore was fixed. |
Spells | NPCs under the Control spell no longer die from jumping off heights, and using a teleport rune while controlling an NPC no longer leaves the player stuck in the control session. See Magic and Runes. |
Difficulty settings | The combat slider in the custom difficulty settings works again. |
Mad Xardas | His spawns being killed right away no longer causes Xardas to teleport away permanently in that encounter. |
Trophies | The Overachiever and Map Sniffer trophies were corrected on PlayStation 5. See Trophies and Achievements. |
World interaction | Interaction positioning is calculated correctly when an NPC blocks the interaction spot, guards no longer stand up during the Convoy quest when the player leaves and revisits the area, the Hero no longer falls from a ladder when opening the inventory while carrying a torch, the Stone Golem interaction was fixed, and a brief second interaction prompt after executing the Mad Demon was removed. |

Balancing Changes
The patch makes the widest set of balance adjustments since launch, focused on armor, trader stock, and world loot. As with earlier patches, the notes describe the direction of each change rather than exact values.
Change | Detail |
|---|---|
Caster robes | Fire, Water, and Dark Arts robes lend more physical protection in exchange for reduced elemental protection, and now grant increased maximum mana. See Armor. |
Armor upgrade costs | Shadow and Bandit armor upgrades have slightly reduced top-tier protections; their early alterations cost less while top-tier alterations cost more. Guard, Mercenary, and Templar armor upgrades are more expensive, particularly at higher tiers. |
Trader stock | Dexter, Silas, Jeremiah, Alberto, Santino, and Mordrag carry more cooking materials. See Merchants and Trading. |
Seaforest Brew | Now crafted at the alchemy lab like other potions, although it remains a cooking recipe. See Consumables. |
Castle and house loot | Equipment in the Old Camp Castle and the Abandoned House was rebalanced, with lower-tier equipment added to both areas. |
Weapon placements | The Abandoned Mine Rider's Bow became a Long Bow, the Goblin Cave War Sword became a Battle Sword, and the Orc enclave Revenge Steel was replaced by a Mercenary's Blade. The Fog Tower Longbow and Longsword were swapped for a Field Bow and the Judgment Sword, the Oak Bow moved to the Ancient Monastery with a Hedge Bow added to the Mountain Fortress, Templar weapons were added to corpses in the Sleeper Temple, and the Storm Whisper replaced the Skullcleaver in the East Forest shadowbeast cave, now appearing only after the Ulu-Mulu quest starts. See Weapons. |
Potions and pickups | A Strength Potion was added to the top of the Old Citadel Tower, a Dexterity Potion was restored behind the waterfall near the Sunken Tower, and a mana potion near the Nek cave was replaced with a health potion. Nuggets, plants, crafting materials, and torches were added to empty areas and underwater locations. |
Extra rewards | Additional loot including scrolls, potions, and weapons was added to the Shipwreck and the Fog Tower, and several items that did not appear correctly in the Ancient Monastery, Shipwreck, Fog Tower, and East Forest were fixed. |
Mage-area rewards | A Health Potion moved from Scar's chest to Rodriguez's chest, and the ring previously found in Raven's chest moved to Saturas' chest. |
Old Mine rewards | The positions of the Extract of Life and the Blood Sword were swapped. |
Improvements
NPC traversal improved in the Old Camp tunnel.
Navigation improvements to avoid player blockers.
Minor dialogue changes to improve coherence between the player's actions and the world state.
August 6 Hotfix
A small hotfix followed on August 6, 2026, six days after Patch 1.0.4. The studio published its contents as a short list rather than a full changelog file, and gave no separate build number for it, so the version string reported in the Settings screen is unchanged.
Lighthouse meeting. Milten now appears at the Lighthouse meeting instead of failing to show up.
Second ring slot. A ring equipped in the second slot applies its bonus correctly. See Accessories, which also covers the 1.0.4 fixes to amulet and ring bonuses.
Decomposed corpses. Quest items can be looted from decomposed corpses, which previously blocked collection.
How to Confirm the Update
After updating, the game reports build version CL171261 in the bottom-right corner of the Settings screen. The patch notes are also readable in-game through the changelog screen, and the studio again asked players to report outstanding issues through the in-game bug-reporting form.
