Weapons are the core of combat in Gothic 1 Remake. Every blade, axe, mace, and bow lists a damage value, a damage type, and a minimum attribute requirement: melee weapons scale with Strength and bows or crossbows scale with Dexterity, so you cannot wield a heavy two-hander until you have trained enough Strength. The Nameless Hero never carries a shield, so weapon choice and timing decide every fight. The lists below cover every melee and ranged weapon, with the stat you need to equip each one.
Melee Weapons
Melee weapons are split into one-handed and two-handed types. One-handed weapons are faster and let you stay mobile, while two-handed swords and axes hit far harder but leave you open between swings. See the Combat System page for parry and combo timing.

Ranged Weapons
Bows and crossbows let you soften enemies before they close the distance. Crossbows hit harder and need less aiming skill, while bows fire faster. Arrows and bolts are consumed on use, so keep a stock from traders or craft them.

Where to Get Weapons
Starting gear: you can pick up a free Rusty Sword, a Pickaxe, and an Old Sword in the first area of the Valley of Mines.
Give the Hunter's Knife to Drax early on to receive a free Shortbow for ranged kills.
Powerful weapons are handed out by named NPCs as quest rewards once you join a camp.
Traders in each camp sell stronger swords, axes, and bows for ore nuggets.
