New Camp
The New Camp is the second of the three camps in the Valley of Mines. It was founded by convicts who refused to accept the ore-trade deal that the Old Camp had struck with the Crown and wanted instead to find a way out of the Colony.
Leadership
The New Camp is jointly ruled by the Water Mages Saturas and his circle, together with the rebel commander Lee. Day-to-day authority in the camp is distributed rather than centralised, which gives the New Camp a more decentralised feel than the Old Camp.
Escape Plans
The Water Mages are the camp's reason for existing. They are actively researching the Barrier and looking for artifacts that might bring it down. Everything the camp produces, especially ore, is funnelled toward that project rather than sold through the Old Camp's trade.
Joining the New Camp
The Hero joins the New Camp in Chapter 1 by completing the camp's admission quest and proving useful to the Water Mages or to Lee. Joining the New Camp opens the path into the Water Circle and to a seat at the mages' research table later in the game.
