Patch 1.0.1 is the first post-launch update for Gothic 1 Remake, released on June 12, 2026, one week after the game launched. It bundles crash fixes, a new lockpicking aid, a long list of quest and navigation corrections, and a round of creature balancing. After it installs, the build version shown in the bottom-right corner of the Settings screen reads CL168781, which is how to confirm the update applied.
The studio asked players to remove any installed modifications before updating, since some mods can be incompatible with the new build, and to file issues through the in-game bug-reporting form so they can be prioritised. For the launch reception this patch responds to, see Reviews and Reception. For the wider launch timeline, see Release History.
Additions
The headline addition targets the reworked lockpicking minigame, which several players found unclear at launch.
Change | Detail |
|---|---|
Lock difficulty indicator | A new indicator shows how hard a lock is before the Hero attempts to pick it, so it is clearer whether a lock is worth trying at the current skill level. |
Technical Fixes
This patch focuses on the launch-window crashes and several interaction bugs.
Area | Fix |
|---|---|
Stability | Fixed crashes related to DLSS and FSR upscaling, plus various other crash fixes and memory improvements. |
Saving | The Main Menu and Exit Game buttons are now disabled until the save has finished writing, so a save can no longer be interrupted. |
Forging | Fixed some forge-station interactions. See Forging and Arrows for the crafting system. |
Economy | Closed several economy exploits. |
Fixed magnet and targeting issues in melee, fixed the crossbow disappearing along with various archery problems, and improved wall climbing. | |
NPCs | Improved NPC navigation so characters route around the world more reliably. |
Audio | Improved audio for footsteps and attacks. |
Quest and Navigation Fixes
The largest part of the patch clears quest blockers, corrects faction-join logic, and fixes item ownership across the camps. The entries below are drawn from the published notes.
Quest or NPC | Fix |
|---|---|
Fire Mages path | Fixed an issue that blocked the player from becoming a fire mage. |
Gomez key | The Gomez key is no longer lootable until Chapter 5. See Chapters for the story structure. |
Abandoned Mine key | No longer lootable until the Caine quest starts. |
Old Camp join | Fixed an issue that allowed players to join the Old Camp after already joining another camp. |
Fixed a bug that prevented Gorn from joining the Troll fight; Gorn now also executes the guards in the Free Mine. | |
Minecrawlers Queen | The Minecrawler Queen now correctly grants experience when defeated. |
Bullit and Syra | Syra's quest is now fixed for players who defeated Bullit before reaching it. |
Thorus permissions | Permission from Thorus for Swamp Camp members can now be obtained in more than one way. |
General | NPCs near campfires now play the correct animations, and various level fixes corrected navigation, links, and spawners. |
Creature and Enemy Balancing
Patch 1.0.1 retunes several enemies, and endgame spell damage was increased.
Enemy | Change |
|---|---|
Stone Golem | Resistance to wind spells decreased, while overall resistances and health increased. |
Resistances and health increased, and the range of his area attack increased. | |

Queen and Warrior rebalanced. | |
Other creatures | Balancing updates also applied to the Biter, Harpy, Orcdog, Razor, and Zombie. |
Sound
A set of audio adjustments accompanies the patch. A continuous sound effect was added for the healing spell, and Xardas's demon now has an effect on its voice. Conversation audio ducking was improved, sound-effect volumes were rebalanced, music transitions inside the Old Camp castle were fixed, more ambient effects were added to the world, and the lightning-strike sound effect now plays more reliably instead of occasionally triggering underground.
How to Confirm the Update
After updating, the correct version is CL168781, shown in the bottom-right corner of the Settings screen. Players were advised to make sure no modifications were installed before updating, since some mods may be incompatible with the new build.
