Thorus is the gate commander of the Old Camp in Gothic 1 Remake. He controls who is allowed into the camp and is the first authority figure the Hero has to deal with on the Old Camp admission route. He is one of the named characters Alkimia Interactive has included in public remake marketing, which sparked dedicated community discussion of his appearance.
Standing at the Old Camp gate, Thorus decides who walks in and who is turned away. A Hero who wants to reach Gomez or the Fire Mages inside the castle has to pass through him first, which is why the Old Camp admission arc runs through Thorus rather than straight to the camp's leader.
Thorus is loyal to Gomez. He is a senior fighter within the Old Camp's hierarchy and is trusted with enough authority that a new arrival cannot simply push past him. That loyalty is tested later in the campaign as the Old Camp's politics fracture, but at the point the Hero first meets him, Thorus is firmly on Gomez's side.
Heroes who commit to the Old Camp work up through Thorus early. Heroes who eventually join a different camp still remember him as the bottleneck at the Old Camp gate, which is part of why the three-camp political game has physical texture, not just conversational texture.
