Overview
Crimson Desert features a full day-night cycle that affects NPC availability, quest triggers, enemy spawns, and the overall atmosphere of Pywel. Some quests can only be started or completed at specific times of day, so knowing how to advance time is essential. There are three ways to skip ahead.
Sleeping in Beds
The most straightforward method is sleeping in a bed. Beds can be found in inns, camps, and certain houses across the world. Walk up to any bed and interact with it. You will be given the option to sleep for 3, 6, or 12 hours.
Sleeping removes Kliff's fatigue, making him more effective in combat afterward.
Beds in the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill are always available after unlocking the camp in Chapter 3.
Inn beds in Hernand City and other settlements also work.
Resting at Campfires
Campfires are scattered throughout the open world and serve as rest points. To use one, approach a campfire and use Focus (hold the lantern button) to lock on to it, then select the Wait option. You can rest for 3, 6, or 12 hours, just like sleeping in a bed.
Keyboard: Press CTRL to bring out your lantern, then press the prompt that appears to wait.
Controller: Press LB/L1 to bring out your lantern, then press the button prompt to wait.
Campfires also remove fatigue, the same as beds.
Quest-Triggered Time Skips
Certain quests require you to arrive at a location during a specific time of day. If you reach the quest area at the wrong time, the game often provides a nearby wait spot. For example, during the Missing Companion quest in Chapter 2, pressing the menu button (ESC on keyboard, Menu on controller) at the quest marker will skip ahead to the required time automatically.
Not every quest offers this convenience. If no prompt appears, find the nearest bed or campfire and advance time manually until you reach the required window.
Cooldown Between Rests
After resting, there is a short built-in cooldown before Kliff can rest again. The game does not display an explicit timer for this cooldown. Plan your time increment carefully before confirming, because you cannot immediately rest again if you chose the wrong duration.
Tips
If a quest says "come back at night" or "return in the morning," sleep or rest for 6 to 12 hours at the nearest available location.
Vendor inventories restock at midnight in-game time. Resting at a campfire until midnight is a quick way to refresh merchant stock.
The day-night cycle continues during normal gameplay, so you do not always need to rest. Simply exploring and completing other activities will naturally advance time.
