Overview
The Dusk Fang Leather Armor is a Body Armor piece in Crimson Desert that combines dual elemental resistances with two valuable utility bonuses. With 5 DEF, Lightning Resistance Lv.1, Fire Resistance Lv.1, a Food Effect +1 bonus, and a 2% Climb Speed increase, it is a versatile option for players who prioritize exploration utility alongside protection.
The armor is part of the Dusk Fang leather equipment set, which also includes the Dusk Fang Leather Cloak and the Dusk Fang Leather Gloves. While Crimson Desert does not grant formal set bonuses for wearing matching equipment, equipping multiple Dusk Fang pieces ensures consistent leather-type refinement costs and provides overlapping utility effects.

Special Effects
The Dusk Fang Leather Armor has two special effects that set it apart from other body armor options in the same defense tier:
Food Effect +1
This bonus increases the level of food effects by one when the armor is equipped. In practical terms, this means players can prepare cheaper, lower-tier food and still receive higher-level stat boosts. For example, a food item that normally grants a level 2 effect will instead grant a level 3 effect while this armor is worn. This synergizes well with the Cooking system and is especially useful for players who want to save ingredients while maintaining strong food buffs during boss fights or long exploration runs.
Climb Speed +2%
The 2% Climb Speed Multiplier bonus increases the speed at which the player character scales walls, cliffs, and other climbable surfaces. While 2% is a modest increase on its own, it stacks with other sources of climb speed and can noticeably reduce the stamina consumed during longer climbs. This is particularly helpful in mountainous areas like the Hernand Highlands and during vertical exploration segments.
How to Obtain
The Dusk Fang Leather Armor is found inside a treasure chest within the Whispering Grotto, a hidden cave tucked behind a waterfall south of Senia in the Hernand region. The grotto gets its name from the sound of wind whistling through the narrow crevices inside.
To enter, approach the waterfall and stand on the platform before its entrance, then use the Stab skill (hold R1 + Square on PlayStation, or RB + X on Xbox, then release) to propel Kliff through the waterfall and into the cave behind it. The Stab skill is available by default for all three playable characters, so no special preparation is required.
Once inside the grotto, follow the cave interior to find the treasure chest containing the armor. Additional loot, including a Refined Pill, can also be found in the cave, so it is worth exploring the entire area.
This armor piece cannot be purchased from any known merchant and does not appear in any crafting recipe.
Part of the Dusk Fang Set
The Dusk Fang equipment set consists of three leather pieces scattered across different locations in the world:
Piece | Type | Location |
|---|---|---|
Dusk Fang Leather Armor | Body Armor | Whispering Grotto (behind waterfall south of Senia) |
Cloak | Cave at Grace Estate (break wooden gate with axe) | |
Gloves | Castlewood Ruins (burn vines, light torch to drop bars) |
Crimson Desert does not grant set bonuses for wearing matching equipment. Each piece is evaluated independently based on its stats, special effects, and Abyss Core slots.
Usage Notes
The dual elemental resistances (Lightning and Fire at Lv.1 each) make the Dusk Fang Leather Armor a practical choice for areas or boss encounters where both damage types are present.
The Food Effect +1 bonus is one of the most impactful utility effects on any early-game body armor. It effectively lets players use cheaper food while achieving the same level of buffs, saving ingredients for more demanding fights later.
At 5 DEF, this armor sits in the lower defense tier. Players who prioritize raw protection over utility may prefer higher-defense alternatives like the Blackwing Leather Armor. However, the utility bonuses can outweigh the defense difference depending on playstyle.
As a leather armor piece, the Dusk Fang Leather Armor uses hides and bones for Refinement upgrades at a blacksmith. Each refinement level increases its base defense.
