Overview
Ashes of Treachery is the opening quest of Chapter 7: Homecoming in Crimson Desert. A fire has consumed the shrine near Pailune, leaving it burnt beyond recognition. Kliff and his comrades ride to investigate, and a recovered letter reveals that Ludvig betrayed Pailune. The quest sets the tone for the entire chapter, which centers on reclaiming the homeland and hunting down the traitor.
Walkthrough
Move with Your Comrades
The quest begins automatically after the events of Chapter 6. Ride alongside your companion on horseback, heading north along the road. The ride ends at a burned-out house where enemies are waiting. Dismount and defeat all hostile forces in the area. The fight is straightforward; regular soldiers with no special mechanics.
Investigate the Burning Shrine
After clearing the enemies, look at the burned structure on the left side of the road. There is a statue in front of it. Walk up to the statue and interact with it to search its mouth. Kliff pulls out a letter hidden inside. This is a brief interaction with no combat.
Read the Letter
Open your inventory and locate the purple document titled "Beighen Situation Report." Use the examine button to read the full contents. The letter explains the current situation in Beighen and confirms Ludvig's treachery.
Travel to Beighen
Follow the objective marker further north up the road. The quest completes as soon as you arrive at Beighen. No additional combat is required for this final step.
Tips
This quest is short and linear. The only combat encounter occurs at the burned house near the beginning.
The letter in the statue's mouth is easy to miss if you rush past the area. Make sure to check the structure on the left side of the road.
Stock up on healing items before proceeding further into Chapter 7. The upcoming quests include boss fights that consume supplies quickly.
