12-Pounders: Devastating is a 12-pound ship cannon, the Rare-rarity modded variant that ascends to Epic. Guns favored for raking fire that punish alignment errors brutally. Their shots tear through decks, guns, and crew alike, leaving damage that worsens with every blow that follows.
Shiver me timbers!

How to Unlock
Crafting 12-Pounders: Devastating requires learning Plans: Devastating 12-Pounders, a Rare recipe paper sold by the Rogue Buccaneers Provisioner at Level 2 reputation for Piastre x300. The 24-pound Devastating plan and 36-pound Devastating plan follow the same Buccaneers vendor at Ranks 3 and 4 respectively.
Crafting Recipes
12-Pounders: Devastating is crafted at the Shipwright's Workshop. Each station tier accepts higher-grade metals and planks, letting you re-craft this gun with whichever material pipeline your base currently supports.
Station Tier | Ingredients | Output | Craft Time |
|---|---|---|---|
Level 1 | Copper Ingot x10, Wooden Plank x5 | 1s (60/min) | |
Level 6 | Foothills Iron Ingot x10, Timber x4, Shipwright's Tools x2 | 1s (60/min) | |

Ascend to Epic
The Rare version of 12-Pounders: Devastating can be ascended to Epic rarity at the Shipwright's Workshop by combining the base Rare cannon with Tumbaga Ingot. Ascending keeps the Rare-tier effect and layers an extra Epic-only bonus on top so the Epic cannon is strictly better once you can afford the Tumbaga cost.
Ascend recipe: Tumbaga Ingot x7 + 12-Pounders: Devastating (Rare) x1 to 12-Pounders: Devastating (Epic) x1
Epic-only bonus: Reload speed increased by 15%.
When to Use
Devastating cannons excel in long slugging matches. The Raked debuff multiplies incoming damage on the target for 25 seconds and stacks up to three times, so repeated broadsides against the same hull compound into a much steeper damage curve than raw DPS would suggest. The Epic tier adds a flat 15% reload-speed bonus, which keeps the Raked stacks from expiring between volleys.

The raw numbers do not change on ascension; the ATK, Damage, Reload, Range, and Accuracy values are all inherited from the Rare input. The only difference is the added Epic-only layer, which stacks with the Rare-tier effect rather than replacing it.
When the Upgrade is Worth It
Devastating Epic adds a flat +15% reload speed, which keeps the stacking Raked debuff from dropping between broadsides. In sustained engagements the Epic tier usually outperforms the Rare even before weak-spot considerations. Pair with Naval Tactics V: Silence the Guns to squeeze the most value out of the upgraded cannon battery.
When to Skip the Ascension
Ascending is not always the right call. The Rare tier is already strong in isolation, and each ascension burns Tumbaga Ingot x7 for a single cannon slot. If you are still climbing the Shipwright's Workshop tier ladder, if your Brig is not yet Item Level 15, or if you are rotating between playstyles that favor different modification lines, it is often smarter to keep the Rare cannon and spend your Tumbaga on something else first. The ascension is a one-way upgrade, but the cost also rises quickly if you change your mind about which variant you want on a given hull.
