Because the stacks decay if you stop hitting the target, this variant shines in drawn-out duels against tanky Brethren hulls and boss ships rather than quick raids. Keep broadsides on the same hull to hold all three stacks, then let your Boarding Combat crew finish the weakened target.

• Devastating (this variant): stacks Raked for 25 seconds (up to 3 stacks, 10% per stack) to raise all damage dealt to the target. Strong for long fights against single tanky targets.

• Tempered variant: rewards a 6-second delay between reload and fire with +40% next-volley damage. Best for timed burst opens.
