Overview
The August 2025 Update (version 0.3.0) launched on August 20, 2025, and was one of the most significant updates to inZOI during its Early Access period. The update introduced an entirely new playable world called Cahaya, a tropical archipelago inspired by Bali and other Indonesian resort destinations. Alongside the new world came inZOI: Island Getaway, the game's first official DLC, which KRAFTON released as a free download for all Early Access owners.
Beyond Cahaya, the v0.3.0 patch delivered the game's macOS debut, a sweeping emotional and behavioral overhaul for Zois, new economic systems including mortgages and insurance, swimming pools and elevators in Build Mode, six outdoor skills and activities, 14 new vehicles, gamepad controller support, and a wide range of quality-of-life improvements. It was the first update to add an entirely new playable world to the game and marked a turning point in the breadth of content available to players.
Island Getaway DLC
inZOI: Island Getaway is inZOI's first official DLC. Despite being listed as a separate download on Steam (players needed to visit the store page and install it), the DLC was entirely free for all base game owners. On the Mac App Store, it was bundled automatically. The DLC provides access to the Cahaya world along with a collection of exclusive content: 189 island-themed building items, 49 tropical-style character items (including swimwear, resort casual outfits, and accessories), and four pre-built property presets ranging from budget to premium estates.

Cahaya
Cahaya (originally called Kucingku during development) is a tropical world available to all players at no extra cost. The name "Cahaya" means "light" in Indonesian and Malay, and its design draws from real tourist destinations in Bali, Lombok, and Yogyakarta. Unlike Dowon and Bliss Bay, Cahaya has no job locations, offices, or schools. Producer Kjun Kim stated that these systems were intentionally left out because they did not fit the resort theme. Instead, the world is designed around vacation life and self-sufficient living, where Zois earn their keep through farming, fishing, gem mining, and selling goods at the Corner Store.
Three Islands
Cahaya is made up of three distinct islands, each with a different character and purpose:
Main Island: The largest area, featuring tropical housing lots, beachfront properties, and the bulk of the world's outdoor activity locations. Rivers and coastal fishing spots are scattered throughout, and farming plots are readily available. The weather here is unpredictable, with sudden heatwaves and heavy rain requiring preparation.
Resort Island: A smaller island dedicated entirely to leisure and relaxation. It houses three resort villas (the Garden Villa, the Premier Ocean View Villa, and the Private Water Villa), a spa area with saunas and massage services, the Cahaya Temple, and a variety of weekly resort events.
Deserted Island: A remote, undeveloped island located between the other two, offering raw natural terrain. It has the most secluded fishing, foraging, and gem mining locations, appealing to players who want a wilderness survival feel.
Players can form new families directly in Cahaya or immigrate existing households from Dowon and Bliss Bay. Transportation between the three islands is handled by boat rentals available at docks, allowing Zois to sail between them freely.
Resort Activities
Cahaya's Resort Island has a range of structured leisure activities. Visitors can book multi-night stays in villas, purchase spa passes for sauna sessions, scalp massages, foot massages, and hand massages, or visit the Cahaya Temple to draw fortunes, make wishes, and interact with the temple's resident cats. The resort runs a rotation of weekly events that change by day, including arcade games, lucky draws, treasure hunts, Turtlebot races, pool parties, and other resort-exclusive activities. Participating in these events earns Resort Coins, a special currency that can be exchanged for exclusive rewards.
macOS Support
With v0.3.0, inZOI became available on macOS for the first time. The port was first announced at Apple's WWDC 2025 event on June 10, 2025, and pre-orders went live on the Mac App Store shortly after. The game also launched on Steam for Mac, where players who already owned the PC version could access the Mac build without repurchasing. On the Mac App Store, it required a separate purchase at the same $39.99 USD price point.
The macOS version requires Apple Silicon (M2 chip or newer) and macOS 15.0 Sequoia. Intel-based Macs and M1 devices are not supported. The minimum hardware requirements call for an M2 chip with 16 GB of RAM and 36 GB of SSD storage, while the recommended specs ask for an M3 chip with 16 GB of RAM and 45 GB of storage. The port leverages MetalFX Upscaling for performance, supports HDR for high-quality visuals, and enables hardware-accelerated ray tracing on M3 and M4 family chips. M2 chips support the full feature set but without hardware ray tracing.
Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
Chip | Apple M2 | Apple M3 |
RAM | 16 GB | 16 GB |
Storage | 36 GB SSD | 45 GB SSD |
OS | macOS 15.0 Sequoia | macOS 15.0 Sequoia |
Ray Tracing | Not available (M2) | Hardware-accelerated (M3/M4) |
Emotional Depth and Relationships
The v0.3.0 update introduced a thorough overhaul of how Zois express emotions and interact with each other. The emotion GUI was completely redesigned to make emotion icons, expression levels, and status indicators easier to understand at a glance. New thought balloons now appear above Zois during conversations and interactions, revealing their inner reflections and making it easier for players to imagine what a Zoi is thinking.
Emotional transitions were smoothed out so that Zois no longer shift abruptly between moods. Interactions and reactions now vary more clearly based on individual traits, and conversation flow has become more consistent overall. The inner thought system gained conditions and context, enabling Zois to show more believable and nuanced responses to the events around them.
The romantic relationship system was expanded with greater emotional depth. New developments include one-sided crushes, love confessions, obsessions, and divorces. Trait-based reactions determine how each Zoi responds to romantic situations, and outcomes vary depending on how well a Zoi sets the mood before making a move. Conversation branches now offer two to three possible outcome paths, adding a layer of unpredictability to social interactions.
New Skills and Activities
Swimming and Snorkeling
Zois can now swim in swimming pools and the ocean, building the Swimming skill over time. Swimming drains energy, and Zois who push themselves too hard risk drowning or accidents due to exhaustion. Children develop a separate Aquatic Ability skill from pool use. Ocean snorkeling is available at designated beach spots in Cahaya, where players can explore underwater environments filled with tropical fish, coral formations, sea turtles, and dolphins. Collectible items can be found on the sea floor during snorkeling sessions.
Fishing
The Fishing skill was introduced across all worlds, available wherever rivers, lakes, or ocean access points exist. Zois cast a line at water locations and can catch a variety of fish species. Higher skill levels unlock better techniques and rarer catches. Using higher-quality rods further increases the chances of landing rare fish. Caught fish can be cooked using the Cooking skill, sold for Meow at market stands or the Corner Store, displayed in fish tanks as home decorations, or gifted to other Zois.
Farming
Farming plots were added as new lot features, primarily in Cahaya but also available on residential lots in other worlds. Players grow crops by placing farming plots in Build Mode, then planting seeds, watering them with watering cans, and tending them with rakes through harvest cycles. Cahaya features banana trees that can be picked directly, a unique touch tied to the tropical setting. Harvested crops can be eaten raw, used in cooking recipes, or sold for profit. The farming system adds a slow, rewarding loop to daily life, especially on Cahaya where it complements the self-sufficient lifestyle.
Gem Mining and Crafting
Gem mining is a resource-gathering activity found primarily on Cahaya's Deserted Island and in select cave-like areas. Zois use a pickaxe to extract gems and minerals from rock deposits. Gems vary in rarity and value, with common stones appearing frequently and rare gems requiring higher skill or repeated visits. Mined gems can be sold, gifted, or used as home decorations. The update also introduced gem crafting, allowing players to cut and refine raw gemstones into jewelry that can be equipped as accessories in the Character Studio.
Boating
Six boat types were added with v0.3.0, available for rental at docks throughout Cahaya. Boat options range from small rowboats and kayaks to larger motorized vessels. Players can explore the waters between Cahaya's three islands, fish from their boats, or cruise the coastline for leisure. Each boat type handles differently, with some suited for open ocean travel and others better on calm river waters. Steering is fully player-controlled, letting Zois sail in any direction.
Economic Systems
Several new financial mechanics were introduced in v0.3.0. When purchasing a first home, Zois can now take out a mortgage loan, with both principal and interest repayable via the smartphone. If a Zoi falls behind on payments, high-interest private lenders become an alternative option. An insurance system was also added, accessible through the smartphone or computer. Players can purchase life insurance, natural disaster coverage, or property insurance depending on their situation.
On the commerce side, market stands let players set up shops to sell produce, fish, and crafted goods. A resale store was introduced with daily price fluctuations, encouraging players to time their sales for maximum profit. A budget tracking app on the smartphone helps Zois monitor income and expenses. Utility bills now carry consequences as well: unpaid bills trigger staged penalties, starting with water shutoff and followed by power disconnection.
Build Mode Additions
The v0.3.0 update added 104 new building items to the base game, including roofing options, fences, gates, and a variety of new furniture. The marquee additions were swimming pools and elevators. Pools can be built from Build Mode under the Exterior category using either preset shapes or fully custom designs. Pool walls have adjustable steepness and height, water levels can be raised or lowered, and players can apply different paint finishes and add underwater lighting. Pools can be placed both indoors and outdoors, enabling architectural possibilities like enclosed pool rooms and rooftop installations. For apartment properties, swimming pools can be placed on the base floor of the Lumiere and Dowon Heights buildings.
Elevators were added under the Floor Connectors section in Build Mode, providing a new way to move between floors in multi-story buildings. A new Roof Presets category was introduced with 15 designs, making it easier to apply polished rooflines without manual adjustments. Pool ladders, floats, tubes, and other pool-specific accessories were added as separate Build Mode objects. The Island Getaway DLC contributed an additional 189 building items with tropical and island aesthetics, along with four pre-built property presets for Cahaya.
Natural Disasters
Environmental hazards were introduced as dynamic events that affect gameplay across all worlds. Dust storms, heat waves, and heavy rain can now occur, each with different effects on daily life. Heavy rain is a natural disaster unique to Cahaya that causes frequent lightning strikes and prevents Zois from driving cars during the storm. These events tie into the new insurance system, giving players a practical reason to invest in natural disaster coverage for their properties.
Vehicles
A total of 14 new vehicles were added in v0.3.0, expanding the transportation options significantly. The update introduced motorcycles and electric scooters as new vehicle categories, offering compact alternatives to cars. Three Hyundai branded models were also added: the Staria Lounge, the IONIQ 9, and the All-New NEXO. A used car purchasing system was included, letting players buy pre-owned vehicles at lower price points.
Character Studio and Customization
The update added 56 new character items to the Character Studio, including breezy swimwear, vintage-inspired pieces, and resort casual outfits reflecting the tropical theme. A new "My Wardrobe" category was introduced, allowing accessories and outfits obtained during gameplay to be carried into the Character Studio for use on any Zoi. Jewels crafted through the gem mining system can be added as decoration materials and equipped as accessories. A Focus Edit Mode was also added, letting players customize facial features without UI elements getting in the way. A recommended Canvas post now appears as a popup when entering the Character Studio. This shows community creations.
Simulation Improvements
A number of daily life improvements came with v0.3.0. Zois can now store food in refrigerators and retrieve it later. Dining tables support customizable setups for various group sizes, and collaborative actions like group dining were added. Chessboards can be placed in homes with win/loss tracking. Time automatically accelerates to 30x speed when all household members are asleep, reducing downtime. Dynamic NPC crowds now populate cities with individual routines, making urban environments feel more alive.
A slow-motion feature was added, activated by holding the Left Alt key to drop the simulation to 0.3x speed. This is useful for capturing screenshots or observing detailed animations. The game's intro video can now be skipped, and a shoulder view auto-targeting system (in beta) was introduced for proximity-based interactions. Map location markers now display property identification information, making navigation easier.
Controls and Platform Updates
Gamepad controller support was added in beta with partial Xbox controller compatibility. This marked the first step toward console-style controls, laying the groundwork for future platform expansions. Selection accuracy and tooltip systems were improved across the board, and the overall UI received polish to complement the new emotion indicators and status displays.
Canvas Community Updates
The Canvas sharing platform received several social features. Replies, thread replies, and mentions were enabled, along with stickers for expressing emotions in posts. Players can now block unwanted users to maintain a safer community environment, and a new privacy option lets players hide their liked creations from other users. Daily themed challenges were introduced with a developer-featured hall of fame, and DLC and platform filtering options were added to help users browse content more effectively.
ModKit and Modding
ModKit Hotfix v0.1.3 was released alongside v0.3.0. This keeps compatibility with the latest base game changes. Maya plugin support was expanded to cover 2021 and later versions, and Blender 3.x series compatibility was added. A mod browser for unofficial mods was included, giving players a way to discover and install community-made content directly from within the game.
Notable Bug Fixes
The v0.3.0 patch addressed over 50 gameplay and UI issues. Notable fixes include a pregnancy eviction glitch that previously caused unexpected household changes, a fire damage bug that spread incorrectly across floors, floating sleeping Zois, and a conversation cancellation problem that occurred when Zois used corner counters. Selection accuracy improvements and tooltip fixes rounded out the bug fix list.
