Refinement Scaling
Twisted Verdict is a one-handed sword that starts with one level of innate critical rate and scales to two crit at max refinement. That puts it one step below Righteous Verdict and the Hound sword, both of which reach three crit at full refinement, but it is still a strong early pick because it rolls crit innately rather than trading it for attack speed like the Golden Sword does. If you already own a Twisted Verdict, use it as a placeholder one-hander until you can clear the Nightfell Expedition Camp cave for Righteous Verdict or run the Hernandish Parish of Solomon questline for the Hound.
