Meats and Grains are a category of gatherables in Crimson Desert that players obtain to cook meals with various stat-boosting effects. Meat is harvested by hunting and skinning animals or purchased from butcheries in towns. Grains are cultivated by farmers across Pywel and can be bought at grocers or grown at the Greymane Camp farm. Cooking requires a bonfire, a recipe, and the correct ingredients.
This category contains 16 items in total: 8 types of meat and 8 types of grain. Meats are the primary protein source for combat-focused recipes that restore Health, while grains serve as staple carbohydrates that appear in a wide range of dishes. Several grains also double as feed for your horse.
Meat comes from hunting wild animals or purchasing cuts at a butchery. The type of meat depends on the size and species of the animal. Larger animals yield tougher meat, while birds provide leaner cuts. All meats are used exclusively in cooking and cannot be consumed raw.

Barley is the most versatile grain because it grows in three different regions, making it easy to find regardless of where you are exploring. Oats and Corn both double as horse feed, so keeping some on hand saves you from purchasing dedicated feed at stables.
Meat is obtained by killing and skinning wild animals. The type of meat depends on the animal. Large creatures like bears and boars yield Tough Meat, while cows produce Tender Meat and pigs drop Marbled Meat. Birds are the source of Lean Bird Meat and Bird Meat. After killing an animal, interact with the carcass to skin it and collect the meat along with any hides or bones. Hunting is one of the core life skills in the game and levels up as you take down more wildlife.
Fish Fillets come from cleaning fish caught at rivers, lakes, and coastal areas. Fishing is one of the confirmed life skills in Crimson Desert. Fish are caught by casting a line at bodies of water and then cleaned at a cooking station to produce fillets.
Grains can be grown at the Greymane Camp farm once the appropriate facilities are built. Alternatively, all meats and grains can be purchased from butcheries and grocers found in major towns across Pywel. Butcheries stock a rotating selection of meat cuts, while grocers carry grains and legumes.
Major trading hubs such as towns in Hernand and Demeniss tend to have the widest selection and lowest prices. Smaller frontier settlements may only carry one or two basic meat types and a limited grain inventory. Prices fluctuate slightly, so buying in bulk at agricultural towns is more cost-effective than purchasing small amounts at remote outposts.
Meats and Grains are the foundation of most cooking recipes in Crimson Desert. Combining different meats with grains, fruits and vegetables, and seasoning items at a bonfire produces meals that grant temporary stat buffs. Higher-tier meats like Marbled Meat and Tender Meat typically yield meals with stronger Health restoration and longer buff durations.
Grains appear in bread, porridge, and stew recipes. Barley and Lentils are particularly valued because their built-in Health +30 bonus carries over into the final cooked product, stacking with the meal's own bonuses. Combining a premium meat (Marbled or Tender) with a Health-boosting grain (Barley, Oats, or Lentils) produces some of the strongest Health recovery meals available.
Keep a stock of at least two or three meat types so you can fulfill a variety of cooking recipes.
Oats and Corn double as horse feed. If your mount needs feeding, these are readily available at most grocers.
Barley and Lentils provide Health recovery when used in cooked meals, making them useful ingredients for combat preparation.
Butcheries in larger towns carry a wider selection of meats than those in smaller settlements.
Focus on pigs and cows early if you need premium meats. Marbled Meat and Tender Meat have the highest Health values among all meat types.
Buckwheat is exclusive to the highlands of Hernand, so stock up when passing through that area.
Build the farm at Greymane Camp as early as possible. Growing your own grains eliminates the need to buy them from grocers and gives you a steady supply for cooking.
