The Cat is a tameable feline companion in Crimson Desert. Cats can be found roaming settlements and towns throughout the Pywel region. To tame a Cat, players must build trust by petting it or leaving its favorite food nearby. There is a daily cap on how much trust can be gained per in-game day. Once trust is fully maxed out, the Cat can be taken in as a permanent companion through the pet taming system.
Like all pets in Crimson Desert, a registered Cat follows the player during exploration and automatically picks up loot from defeated enemies, harvested resources, and other ground items. Cats can also be equipped with pet helms and outfits that improve their defensive stats and change their appearance.

To tame a Cat, players must build its trust to 100. Trust is earned through two interactions: petting and feeding.
Petting: Approach a stray Cat and interact with it to pet it. Each petting session grants +5 trust, with a daily cap of 25 trust from petting alone (five interactions per in-game day).
Feeding: Leave food near the Cat or feed it directly. Up to 3 feedings are allowed per in-game day. The amount of trust gained depends on the food quality and type.
The Cat's favorite food is Squid, which grants +35 trust per feeding. For the fastest taming, combine petting with Squid feedings each day. Once trust reaches 100, set the animal down and use the "Take in" prompt to permanently register it as your pet.
The following table lists all items that can be used to build trust with a Cat. Items are organized by their trust value, from highest to lowest. The trust value shown is the amount gained per single feeding.

Uncooked food items provide a smaller trust bonus of +10 per feeding. These are easier to obtain but less efficient for taming.

The Fish category includes all catchable fish species such as Paddlefish, Salmon, Trout, Carp, Catfish, Mackerel, Red Seabream, Sturgeon, and many others. Any fish caught through fishing can be used to feed a Cat for +10 trust.
Cats can be outfitted with pet-specific helms and outfits. These equippable items provide cosmetic changes and may improve the pet's defensive stats, reducing the chance of injury during combat. The following equipment is available for the Cat:

Once registered, the Cat provides the same core abilities as all other pets in Crimson Desert:
Auto-Loot: The Cat automatically picks up items dropped by defeated enemies during combat, saving the player from manually collecting each drop.
Resource Collection: When the player harvests materials from nodes (ores, trees, plants), the Cat collects the resulting items automatically.
Exploration Companion: The Cat follows the player while exploring the open world. It can be summoned or dismissed through the Inventory menu.
Cats can be injured during combat encounters. An injured pet moves slowly and cannot run until healed. Use Healing Force Palm to restore your pet's health. Equipping pet armor reduces the chance of injury during fights.
The fastest way to max out trust is to combine petting (5 times per day for +25) with feeding Squid (+35 per feeding, up to 3 times per day for +105). This can potentially fill the trust bar in a single in-game day if you have enough Squid.
Craft Companionship enchants on Abyss gear to increase trust gain speed with pets. This makes the taming process significantly faster.
The Solidarity enchant increases trust gain with all NPCs and animals, not just pets. If you plan to tame multiple companions, this enchant is a worthwhile investment.
If a Cat you are taming despawns after you leave the area, return later and it should respawn. Your existing trust progress is preserved.
Legendary Fish grant +100 trust in a single feeding, but they are extremely rare catches. Save them for situations where you want to tame a pet quickly.
The Cat is one of several cat breeds available in Crimson Desert. Other feline pets include:
Kitten: A smaller, younger variant of the standard cat.
Fat Cat: A plump feline found near the Naz River. Requires Dried Fish to tame.
Slim Cat: A slender, agile cat breed.
Long-Haired Cat: A fluffy cat with a longer coat.
Short-Haired Cat: A sleek cat with a short coat.
Short-Haired Kitten: A smaller variant of the short-haired breed.
Desert Cat: A cat adapted to arid environments.
