The Waverider is a hoverboard in Starsand Island that hovers above the ground, providing smooth and fast personal transportation. It is crafted as part of the Senior Crafter certification and builds on the Skateboard as a base component. The Waverider is classified as an aerial vehicle, distinct from ground vehicles like motorcycles and cars. Its hovering capability lets players reach elevated platforms that other compact vehicles cannot access, and it is one of the personal vehicles that can be used inside the Moonlit Forest.
The Waverider is unlocked through the Crafter profession questline mentored by Zerine at the General Store. To earn the Senior Crafter certification, players must craft a brand-new vehicle type using the Skateboard they made during the Apprentice Crafter trial.
Reach the Intermediate Crafter rank by completing earlier Crafter quests from Zerine.
Gather the required crafting materials (see the recipe table below). Several materials require progress into the Moonlit Forest.
Craft the Waverider at a Worktable II.
Take the finished Waverider to Zerine at the General Store to receive your Senior Crafter certification.
The Waverider is crafted at a Worktable II. Several of its materials require progression into the Moonlit Forest and access to advanced crafting stations.
Material | Qty | Source |
|---|---|---|
1 | Crafted at Worktable I (3 Copper Ingot + 3 Softwood Plank) | |
Spirit Cube II | 2 | Crafted at Worktable II from Spirit Cube I + Magnet |
Flamecore Ingot | 5 | Smelted at Furnace III from Flamecore Ore (found in deeper Moonlit Forest regions) |
Solid-State Battery | 1 | Crafted at Energy Converter (1 Radiant Crystal + 2 Tin Ingot + 1 Iron Sheet) |
Several Waverider components require their own crafting chains. Planning ahead and stockpiling materials from the Moonlit Forest saves time.
Spirit Cube II requires 2 Spirit Cube I and 1 Magnet, each crafted at Worktable II. Each Spirit Cube I takes 4 Spirit Cube Fragments and 2 Bronze. For the full Waverider recipe you need 2 Spirit Cube II, which means 16 Spirit Cube Fragments total. Fragments come from analyzing Uncommon Ore Chunks at the Ore Analyzer. Common Ore Chunks cannot produce Spirit Cube Fragments. Uncommon Ore Chunks are mined from nodes in the midsection of the Moonlit Forest, particularly around the Azure Bay area, using an Impact Hammer on Soil Mounds.
Flamecore Ingot is smelted at Furnace III from Flamecore Ore found in deeper Moonlit Forest regions. A common point of confusion: some players believe Furnace III requires Worktable III, but you can upgrade Furnace II to Furnace III through the furnace's own interface without needing a Worktable III. This was clarified by the community on Steam after several players reported a perceived circular dependency.
Solid-State Battery is crafted at the Energy Converter station using 1 Radiant Crystal, 2 Tin Ingot, and 1 Iron Sheet. The Energy Converter itself is built at Worktable II and requires 4 Alloy, 3 Magnet, 2 Starflare Core, 3 Gear, and 2 Prism. If you previously gave your Energy Converter to Delphin during an earlier quest, you will need to craft a replacement.
Unlike the Skateboard and the Verdant Breeze rollerblades, the Waverider hovers above the ground rather than rolling along it. This gives it several practical advantages:
Feature | Details |
|---|---|
Hovering | Glides above the ground surface, eliminating bumps and providing a smooth ride across any terrain |
Elevation access | Can hover upward, allowing players to reach higher platforms and ledges within the Moonlit Forest |
Moonlit Forest compatible | Usable inside the Moonlit Forest alongside the Skateboard and Verdant Breeze |
Parkour compatible | Works with trick spots and parkour puzzles for grinding rails and following golden lights |
No fuel cost | Operates indefinitely with no fuel, energy, rental fees, or durability concerns |
No stamina drain | Riding does not consume stamina |
Hotbar equippable | Placed on the hotbar for quick deployment as a small personal vehicle |
Action | Keyboard | Controller |
|---|---|---|
Ride / Dismount | Left Mouse Button | Right Trigger |
Move | W, A, S, D | Left Stick |
Jump / Hover Up | Spacebar | A / X Button |
Camera | Mouse | Right Stick |
Summon vehicle | R (hold to open garage) | Hold button to open garage |
The Waverider sits at the third tier of the Crafter profession. Each tier requires crafting a specific vehicle:
Tier | Requirement | Vehicle Crafted |
|---|---|---|
Apprentice Crafter | Craft a Skateboard (3 Copper Ingot, 3 Softwood Plank, 90 Gold) | |
Junior Crafter | Craft Verdant Breeze rollerblades (2 Bronze, 3 Radiant Core, 5 Ancient Gear Parts) | Verdant Breeze |
Senior Crafter | Craft the Waverider (see recipe above) | Waverider |
Expert Crafter | Craft a Robot Terminal, deploy mining robot, build Teleporter, craft every Worktable tier | Various advanced items |
The Waverider occupies a mid-tier position between early-game personal transport and the motorized vehicles available from Neona's G-Power Bike shop.
Vehicle | Type | Elevation | How to Obtain | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Ground (wheels) | Yes | No | Apprentice Crafter quest | |
Verdant Breeze | Ground (rollerblades) | Yes | No | Junior Crafter quest |
Waverider | Aerial (hover) | Yes | Yes | Senior Crafter quest |
Reindeer | Ground (motorbike) | No | No | Blueprint from Neona (29,800 Coins) or pre-built (85,000 Coins) |
Larger motorized vehicles like motorbikes and cars cannot enter the Moonlit Forest. Only personal equipment-class vehicles (Skateboard, Verdant Breeze, Waverider) are permitted inside the dungeon.
Patch 0.3.2537 fix: Pressing ESC while riding the Waverider and returning to the game no longer causes automatic dismounting. This was fixed in an early patch.
Craft the Waverider before doing deep runs into the Moonlit Forest. Its hover ability makes navigating the dungeon floors significantly easier, and it is the fastest of the three forest-compatible options.
If you previously discarded your Skateboard, craft another one (3 Copper Ingot + 3 Softwood Plank at Worktable I) before starting the Waverider recipe.
Collect extra Uncommon Ore Chunks while exploring the Moonlit Forest for other quests. The 16 Spirit Cube Fragments needed for the recipe take a fair number of chunks to process at the Ore Analyzer.
The Waverider's elevation hover is especially useful for reaching hidden treasure chests on elevated platforms within the forest dungeon.
You can upgrade Furnace II to Furnace III directly through the furnace interface. You do not need a Worktable III first.
