Dev Roadmap
September 27, 2026 at 05:58 AM
Corrected two cosmetic only Strategy Server statements to record the later notice listing progression items, Sol and bound Gold Pounds; added the September 17 version 1.2 release, the October 2 Emperor's Second Advent raid, the studio's 1.4 expectation for 斗邪恶, and live Sequence 8 promotion
Lord of Mysteries launched in Mainland China on August 21, 2026 at 10:00, across PC, Android, iOS, and HarmonyOS, on 20 server groups, with a cloud-gaming client alongside them. This page covers both halves of the roadmap: the run of milestones that got the game to that morning, and the published content programme that starts from it.
For platform and account facts see Release and Platforms. For the studio behind it see SPARK NEXA. For the dated project chronology in narrative form see Development History. Dates and figures below are what has actually been published; where the studio has stated an intention rather than a date, the text says so.

斗邪恶 | Expected in version 1.4 | A casual mode drawn from the source material. The studio's September 4, 2026 Q&A gave version 1.4 as its current expectation, with the update notice to have the final word. No date |
The studio committed publicly, in May 2026, to a four-year adaptation plan rather than a single shipped story. Klein Moretti's arc is divided into four stages, and the regions open in the same published order, each tied to its stage.
Stage | Region Opening With It |
|---|---|
凡人的挣扎, The Mortal's Struggle | Tingen and its Iron Cross Street, live at launch |
扮演者的觉醒, The Actor's Awakening | Backlund, under the gray fog |
神明的诞生, The Birth of a God | The Five Seas |
自我的战争, The War of the Self | 源堡 |
That is the whole shape of the published plan: four stages, four regions, four years. Everything beyond Tingen is a commitment rather than a date, and the studio has not published a schedule for any individual region.
Season 1 centres on Roselle Gustav and the Fourth Epoch War of the Four Emperors, the conflict recorded in his history of warfare. The Strategy Server competitive tier is built on the same material: clubs are drawn into war zones of sixteen, the top four per division advance, divisions are redrawn every two months, and the first month qualified entrants through league play and faction battles. The studio's August 10, 2026 introduction described its rewards as cosmetic only, including a war banner that upgrades permanently rather than resetting; the September 16, 2026 patch notes list progression items, Sol and bound Gold Pounds among the final rewards alongside the exclusive cosmetics. The tier opened on September 17, 2026.
The novel-adaptation storyline continues on a seasonal cadence, and the side-character programme runs alongside it. The studio's stated framing is that every version update introduces side stories connected to whichever stage of Klein's main plot is current, so the side-character roster broadens as the seasons pass rather than arriving as one block. See Quests and Story for how the campaign is structured and Dungeons and Raids for the group content the seasons feed.
Version 1.2, the first month update, shipped on September 17, 2026 and is recorded item by item on Version History. It added the Fool's Chessboard auto battler mode, opened the Strategy Server, and brought a six player dungeon, Tree of Abundance (丰饶之树), which opened on September 18. The season's closing raid, Emperor's Second Advent (大帝重临), is scheduled for October 2, 2026, inside season one's run to October 14; the raid is a separate thing from the season itself, 大帝的归来·上. Beyond 1.2, one mode has been placed on the version ladder: asked in its September 4, 2026 Q&A about casual modes from the source material, the studio said 斗邪恶 is currently expected in version 1.4, and that the update notice will have the final word.
Monetisation is covered on Monetization, which documents the live shop rather than the beta-era snapshot. The point to carry here is that the launch economy is not the cosmetic-only model the Gray Fog Test build implied: loot boxes are present in the shipped game, and the studio publishes pity tables for its gacha systems.
The long-tail cadence the studio has described inside that four-year window comes down to four recurring streams: periodic Pathway additions, Sequence ceiling raises that open Sequence 5, Sequence 4, and beyond in stages, side-character arcs branching off the main campaign, and the higher-Sequence world bosses, raid antagonists, and faction-warfare elites that those ceiling raises make relevant. None of the four has a published schedule; they are the shape of the plan rather than its calendar.
A creator incentive programme runs alongside the game. The studio committed a prize fund for the first month of public launch, open to video creators and streamers, and said the pool refreshes monthly after that. A cloud-gaming client went live on launch day with a free first week and a login bonus.
The setting has 22 Pathways of 10 Sequences each, 220 rungs in total, numbered from Sequence 9 at entry down to Sequence 0. Six Pathways are playable: Seer, Apprentice, Spectator, Warrior, Bard, and Mystery Pryer. The other sixteen have been revealed by name and emblem and are not selectable.
The studio has named the Monster, Lawyer, and Assassin Pathways as the ones it wants to build next. It has not published a release order or a timetable for those three or for the remaining thirteen behind them.
Class change (转职), the ability to move between adjacent Pathways, is not in the launch build. It is reported to arrive with the Assassin Pathway and to require Sequence 4 or higher, which places it a long way past anything currently reachable.
The launch Sequence ceiling has not been published. Only Sequence 9 is confirmed reached inside the game's documented first ten days, and higher-Sequence content is explicitly staged as later live-service work. Sequence 4 and above brings the world bosses, raid antagonists, and faction-warfare elites the studio has described as post-launch material.
Sequence 8 is now live. On September 10, 2026 the studio's own copy described players across the game being promoted to Sequence 8, and the version 1.2 notes raise the digestion that some Sequence 8 promotion tasks grant. As of September 27, 2026 no ceiling above Sequence 8 has been stated.
One roster gap has a stated fix. The Spectator Pathway shipped without a male option, and the studio's own Sequence 8 costume announcement states that a male Spectator is currently unavailable and will be added in the future. That is a missing content item rather than a design rule: other Pathways are playable in either gender at Character Creation.
Beyond Tingen, four future areas have been described publicly, all of them dated only by their place in the sequence:
Backlund. The imperial capital was built and previewed as far back as the Crimson Test but gated behind progression, and it is the second region in the four-year sequence. See Setting and World for how the launch world is laid out around Tingen.
The Five Seas. Maritime content centred on the World, Gehrman Sparrow, described by the studio in May 2026 as in intensive production.
The God-forsaken Land (神弃之地), a zone and storyline built around the Tarot Club's Sun, Derrick Berg. The studio described it in May 2026 as being in a final polish stage. Silver City, whose residents leave the God-forsaken Land under the Fool's guidance, is a place-name from the same material, and it supplied one of the launch server names.
The West Continent (西大陆). Described in May 2026 as being in design coordination rather than production, and framed as mysterious and Eastern-flavoured. This is the most distant item on the published plan.
All four descriptions are dated to May 2026 and have not been restated since launch. Treat them as the studio's position at that time rather than as current production status.
The compressed version of the pre-launch run. Development History carries the same chronology with the studio-side detail.
2024. March 14: the 'Tingen's Old Dream' Unreal Engine 5 scenes video, a cinematic mood piece with no gameplay, anchored on the city of Tingen. Tokyo Game Show 2024: first public showcase, under the working title Code: Mystery (代号:诡秘), with pre-alpha capture, the studio's first public dev panel, and the initial international press contact. Late 2024: the project takes its final name in line with the formal licence confirmation.
2025. The team scales from a small core into the several-hundred range, and the internal structure firms up around the Pathway and Sequence systems, the Acting Method, and the early Tingen build. Late in the year the studio confirms a Mainland-China-first beta strategy, names the first closed beta the Crimson Test (绯红测试), and opens all-platform pre-registration on November 26.
2026, first quarter. Crimson Test recruitment opens January 15 at 09:30 China Standard Time and closes February 1. The build goes live February 5 for selected PC testers in Mainland China with six of the 22 Pathways playable, and concludes before February 23, deliberately ahead of Chinese New Year.
2026, spring. A quieter feedback-and-iteration stretch, with post-test survey results published in summary form and studio digests recapping tester feedback. Communication from this period signposted several further CN beta rounds; there was one.
Public statements around the second test's recruitment expanded the roadmap with content commitments. They framed the game's six confirmed playstyles, the Sanity System permadeath mechanic, the dice-roll exploration system, and the Solo Mode toggle with AI teammates. The studio also signposted original side-character storylines as possible future content, mentioning Emperor Roselle and the Dunn Smith and Daly Simone pairing in that context without committing either to a specific update. The Dunn and Daly side quest 美梦成真 did ship in the beta cycle and was one of the two pieces of tester feedback the studio later singled out.
The same statements set the four-year horizon for adapting the source material and confirmed that many higher-Sequence bosses were planned as post-launch content, with the sixteen unplayable Pathways signposted for future tests and patches.
Recruitment for the second closed beta opened on May 22, 2026 with three milestones confirmed at once: a June 26 start, the first multi-platform test running PC, Android, and iOS simultaneously, and a limited-capacity paid wipe test structure (限量计费删档测试). The paid component covered the test build only and unlocked nothing later; no progression carried into the launch client.
Ahead of the test the studio published a gameplay showcase trailer, 'Welcome to the MMO New World,' distinct from the May recruitment teaser. It walked through the Unreal Engine 5 world, the day-and-night urban exploration of the starting city, and the Acting Method performance loop, and it put the wider gameplay on screen for the first time: blended firearm, melee, and Beyonder-ability combat including a third-person shooter mode, traversal by horses, vehicles, and a railway plus water-surface dashing, a multi-region world spanning different eras of technology, cooperative encounters, and side-activity minigames. Pre-registrations passed 1.5 million in mid-June and stood at roughly 1.58 million when the test opened, clearing the milestone reward tiers set at 200,000, 500,000, and 1,000,000.
The test went live on June 26 as the first round to enable payment functions, which is what made the live-service economy concrete: point cards, a monthly card, basic and deluxe season passes, and a standard season structure whose first season was built out as complete content. It closed on July 5 at 21:00 after a finale week that opened the May Manor: Garden 12-player raid on July 3, the Four-Sides League plus the City Hunt Battle and Plateau Battle battlefields on July 4, and the Summit of the Gods 6v6 server-wide arena on July 5.
On July 10, 2026 the launch-date letter confirmed August 21 and set the post-launch posture: the novel-adaptation storyline keeps updating on a seasonal cadence until the whole novel is in the game, with the side-character programme expanding alongside it. The letter described four pre-launch workstreams: content fill, including new novel-line chapters, the continuing personal storyline, and the Azik side quest; a wave of European-style outfits plus motion-capture work on cold-weapon and firearm combat animations; performance optimisation across all platforms; and community building.
The pre-registration campaign finished above 2.1 million appointments, having passed 2 million by early August. Pre-download opened on August 19 at 08:00 and in-game pre-creation with nickname reservation at 12:00 the same day, with the game topping the domestic app store's pre-order chart during that window. Pre-creation filled fast enough that capacity was raised the same afternoon and further server groups opened that evening. The first batch of server names had been picked by a player vote.
The public launch (公测) followed at 10:00 on August 21, 2026. The studio reported more than a million new players inside the first hour and over 700,000 online at the same time. See System Requirements for the shipped client specifications and Getting Started for the new-player route into the live game.
The Sequence ceiling. Sequence 8 is live as of September 2026, and no ceiling has been stated as of September 27, 2026.
