Overview
Fool's Chessboard (愚者棋局) is an auto-battler mode inside Lord of Mysteries. It went live on September 17, 2026 as part of Y1S1.2, the game's first-month update, and each match seats eight players. The pieces are characters from the setting, and the studio's reveal sells the mode on exactly that: familiar figures from the story meeting on one board.
The mode is built into the main client, so there is no separate download. After the update it is reached from the in-game menu under World Adventure (世界冒险), then the casual battles tab (趣斗), then Fool's Chessboard.
Scope Note
Fool's Chessboard is a mode of the MMORPG, not a separate game. The studio's reveal article headlined it as 《诡秘之主：愚者棋局》 and called it a new auto-battler, but the same article states that it is a built-in mode played inside the main game. It is also not the same thing as 诡秘之主：愚者, a separate card game in the franchise, which is outside the scope of this wiki.

The update notice presents the mode as free combination of pieces, talents and equipment, with each lineup producing a different contest.
Ranked Rules
Matches award and deduct win points (胜点) on a rank ladder. The notice sets three rules:
A party of six or more players gains no win points from a match.
A party is matched against opponents at the level of its highest-ranked member.
At Viscount (子爵) 5 and below, a match result never deducts win points.
Viscount is the only rank the notice names. As of September 27, 2026, the full ladder has not been published outside the client.
Pieces and Bonds
The update notice gives counts rather than a roster, and as of September 27, 2026 no full piece list has been published outside the client. The studio's reveal article names these pieces and bonds:

The reveal closes on a nod to the setting: Emperor Roselle's imagined wish to have Klein pull devices out of the gaps in history so the two could play games together, which the studio says comes true on this board.
Lineup Tools and Codex
Lineup recommendations and a lineup editor, with which players can build and upload their own Fool's Chessboard lineups.
A codex (棋局图鉴) that previews each piece's skills, talent effects and resonance (共鸣) effects.
Rewards
According to the reveal, playing the mode earns items including Star Coins (星币) and Holy Grails (圣杯).
Chessboard Trial Event
Chessboard Trial (棋局试炼) runs from September 17 to October 15, 2026, and is under way as of September 27, 2026. Players take part in Fool's Chessboard and complete resonance tasks (共鸣任务) to claim rewards. The listed rewards include:

Star Coins (星币)
Extraordinary substance chests (非凡物质宝箱), holding the attribute pieces socketed into sealed artifacts
Blue Mountain spar (蓝山晶石)
Lamps of History (历史明灯), the pull currency of the Connections System
Golden spun thread (金纺线)
The same update added an oath (誓约) task that asks bonded partners to finish one Fool's Chessboard match together as a party.
Place in the First-Month Update
Fool's Chessboard arrived alongside the opening of the Strategy Server, a new Connection for Klein, and new dungeons. The launch-day promotion pitched it as the option for players who would rather unwind than compete. See Version History for the rest of the update.
The mode also answered a player request. In the September 4, 2026 question and answer post, asked whether casual modes from the source material were planned, the studio pointed to Fool's Chessboard for version 1.2 and said another, 斗邪恶, is expected in version 1.4, with the update notice to confirm.
