Overview
Premade families are pre-built households that ship with inZOI, giving players a ready-to-play option without needing to create Zois from scratch in Create a Zoi. The game includes 84 premade families split across its two main cities: 33 in Dowon and 51 in Bliss Bay. Each family comes with pre-set personalities, traits, relationship dynamics, and a starting Meow balance. Some families are already assigned to residential lots (housed), while others need the player to find or build a home for them (unhoused).
Family Dynamics
Premade families range from solo Zois living alone to large households with up to six members. They represent a wide variety of backgrounds and nationalities, and each comes with a short backstory that hints at the family's dynamics and personality. Players can fully edit any premade family's appearance, traits, and relationships in the character editor before starting play. Every premade Zoi also has a pre-assigned Desired Life and set of values that guide their autonomous behavior, though these can be changed during editing.
Non-Player Families (premade families you are not actively controlling) remain present in your save and continue living their lives autonomously. They work jobs, form relationships, and may even move into vacant lots over time. This means the premade families populate the world whether you play as them or not, giving each city a living, breathing feel from the start.
Starting Meow Formula
The starting Meow balance follows a predictable pattern based on family size for unhoused families:
Family Size | Starting Meow (Unhoused) |
|---|---|
1 Zoi | 55,000 |
2 Zois | 57,500 |
3 Zois | 60,000 |
4 Zois | 62,500 |
Unhoused families receive 55,000 Meow as a base plus 2,500 per additional member. Housed families generally start with less liquid Meow because their wealth is tied up in their residence. Some housed families deviate significantly from this formula: the Martin family starts with 200,000 Meow, while the Yoon family in Bliss Bay starts with only 3,000 Meow. The Cooper family in Bliss Bay is a notable exception among unhoused families, starting with 82,500 Meow rather than the standard 60,000 for a three-member household.
Housed vs. Unhoused Families
Housed families come pre-assigned to a residential lot. Their starting Meow tends to be lower because part of their wealth is already invested in housing. Unhoused families (listed as "Not in the City") start with more liquid Meow but need the player to purchase or build a home through Build Mode before moving in. Players can place unhoused families into vacant lots in any city using the family management menu.
There are 11 housed families across both cities: 6 in Dowon and 5 in Bliss Bay. The remaining 73 families are unhoused and can be placed anywhere the player chooses. Housed families offer immediate gameplay since you can start controlling their daily lives right away, while unhoused families give you full freedom to pick a neighborhood and either purchase an existing home or build from scratch.
Family Dynamics
When choosing between housed and unhoused families, keep in mind that housed families have their property value factored into their total net worth. For example, the Martin family at Gaya Apartments has 200,000 liquid Meow plus a residence valued at approximately 143,531 Meow, giving them substantial total assets. Meanwhile, the Yoon family at Heaven Hill Apartments has only 3,000 liquid Meow plus a modest apartment valued at around 17,442 Meow.
Selecting and Managing Premade Families
To play as a premade family, press 'M' to open the Edit City menu, then select "Manage Family" followed by "All Families." From here you can browse every premade household, read their backstory descriptions, and choose one to play. Housed families can be selected by clicking on their occupied lot directly.
For unhoused families, you need to assign them a home first. Click on any empty lot or vacant house in the city and use the "Select Family" button to move a household in. If the lot is empty, you can build a home through Build Mode before or after moving the family in. You can also use a Canvas code to place a pre-designed home on the lot.
Once you select a premade family, you can edit every member in Create a Zoi before starting play. Appearance, clothing, traits, values, and desired lives can all be customized. However, you cannot change the pre-set relationships between existing family members (for example, you cannot make two siblings become strangers). You can add new members to the family, up to the maximum household size of 8 Zois.
Traits and Desired Lives
Every premade Zoi comes with a pre-assigned trait that shapes their personality, needs, urges, skill growth rates, and social tendencies. inZOI features 18 traits divided into six categories, partly inspired by the Myers-Briggs (MBTI) and Enneagram personality systems. Once a trait is assigned during creation, it cannot be changed through normal gameplay, though you can change a premade Zoi's trait in the editor before starting play.
Each premade Zoi also has a Desired Life that sets their default values, preferences, ambitions, and aligned skills. There are 16 Desired Lives in the game, each aligning with specific playstyles. The Desired Life influences what autonomous actions a Zoi takes and what goals they pursue. Like traits, the Desired Life can be changed in the editor before you begin playing but cannot be altered through normal gameplay afterward.
Life Stages in Premade Families
Premade families contain members at various life stages. inZOI features nine life stages: Newborn, Toddler, Child, Adolescent, Teenager, Young Adult, Adult, Middle-Aged, and Senior. When creating a Zoi from scratch, only seven of these stages can be selected (Newborn, Toddler, and Adolescent occur only through natural aging). Premade families, however, can include members at any stage.
Most premade families consist of Adult parents with Child or Teenager offspring. Solo Zois and couples are typically Adults or Young Adults. The Park (elders) family in Dowon is notable for featuring Senior-age Zois (Jeongsook and Chulsoo Park), offering a different gameplay experience focused on retirement and later life.
Life stage durations vary significantly. Children age for 7 in-game days, Teenagers for 4 days, Young Adults for 10 days, Adults for 20 days, Middle-Aged Zois for 16 days, and Seniors can live up to 35 days before dying of old age. Players who want to keep their premade family composition stable can disable aging entirely in Options under Simulation settings.
Bliss Bay Families
Bliss Bay has 51 premade families, making it the larger starting city for premade content. The city mirrors the laid-back lifestyle and sun-kissed scenery of Santa Monica, with panoramic beaches, lively piers, and a colorful mosaic of subcultures. Its diverse mix of family backgrounds reflects this coastal, Western-influenced setting. Only five families are pre-assigned to residences; the remaining 46 are unhoused.

Housed Families (Bliss Bay)
These five families begin the game already living in assigned residences:
Family Name | Members | Residence | Lot Size | Property Value | Starting Meow |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Abbott | Steve, Jessica, Olivia Abbott | 19 Beachfront Drive | 35m x 25m | 329,181 | 125,000 |
Collins | Matthew, Hazel, Abby, Emma, Becca Collins | 420 Kingsbury Court | 25m x 30m | 116,506 | 25,000 |

Williams | Terry, Miles, Rebecca, Brandon, Ryan, Sophia Williams | 1011 Willowtree Lane | 40m x 20m | 86,620 | 30,000 |
Yoon | Taejun Yoon, Hyejin Kim, Jihun Yoon, Seoyeon Yoon | Heaven Hill Apartments | 15m x 10m | 17,442 | 3,000 |
The Abbott family is the wealthiest housed family in Bliss Bay with 125,000 Meow and a beachfront property at 19 Beachfront Drive. Their three-story home comes complete with workout equipment and entertainment facilities, making it ideal for players who want a comfortable coastal lifestyle. The Williams household is the largest premade family in the entire game with six members, living in a spacious home on Willowtree Lane that features private rooms and generously sized shared spaces. The Yoon family starts with the lowest Meow balance of any family at just 3,000, creating a challenging survival scenario in their modest Heaven Hill apartment.
The Murphy household consists of two roommates (Nathan Murphy and Nathan Lucas) sharing an apartment on the twelfth floor of a fifteen-story building at Ocean Bliss. With only 7,000 Meow between them, this pair presents an early financial challenge in a prime coastal location. The Collins family occupies a refined home at 420 Kingsbury Court with sleek interiors and ample space for their five-member household.

1 (Solo) | 4 | Choi, Garcia, Goodman, Wilson |
2 (Couple/Duo) | 3 | Thompson, Murphy, Yang (Monica) |
3 | 16 | Abbott, Brown, Carpenter, Cooper, and others |

International diversity is well-represented with Japanese (Fujiwara), Chinese (Cai, Ma), Korean (Moon, Yoon, Hwang, Choi, Yoo), and a wide range of Western surnames. The Thompson household (Jake Thompson and Ashley White) is notable for having members with different last names, suggesting a roommate or unmarried couple arrangement.
Dowon Families
Dowon has 33 premade families. The city's Korean urban setting, inspired by Seoul, is reflected in its family names, though international households are also well-represented. Six families begin in assigned residences, while the remaining 27 are unhoused. Dowon's dense metropolitan layout offers apartment living, villas, and standalone houses across its various neighborhoods.

The Martin family is the wealthiest premade family in the entire game, starting with 200,000 Meow at Gaya Apartments. Their apartment is described as cozy and fulfilling, perfect for those who value comfort, and is recommended for three- or four-person households with children. The Hwang couple lives in the Dowon Heights penthouse, the most expensive property in Dowon at 251,707 Meow, offering breathtaking views of the city. This penthouse occupies the biggest lot in Dowon at 28.5m x 35.5m.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Kim family at Mugunghwa Villa starts with just 5,000 Meow. Their villa boasts a bright living room ideal for heartwarming talks, but the low starting funds make them one of the most financially challenging households to play. The Park elders at Sandeul Villa (7,500 Meow) offer a warm, charming standalone house that feels like a true home, and their Senior life stage provides a unique gameplay perspective focused on later life.
Kyeongtae Lee is notable as the wealthiest solo Zoi among premade families, starting with 77,500 Meow at Metro House, conveniently located near a subway station for easy travel. Jean Lee at Moaville has a more modest 10,000 Meow start.

Family Size Breakdown (Dowon)
Dowon's 33 families break down by household size as follows:
Household Size | Count | Examples |
|---|---|---|
1 (Solo) | 6 | Soojin Park, Richardson, Song, Junseok Yang, Kyeongtae Lee, Jean Lee |
2 (Couple/Duo) | 4 | Hwang (Dowon), Kim (Minwoo), Ross, Park (elders) |
3 | 9 | Choi, Joo, Jung, Kwon, Kim (Minjeong), and others |
4 | 14 | Baek, Franklin, Harrington, Hur, Jin, and others |
Dowon has a higher proportion of solo Zois and couples compared to Bliss Bay. International diversity is present with the Franklin, Harrington, Kane, Jenkins, Martin, Richardson, and Ross households alongside predominantly Korean families like the Baek, Choi, Joo, Jung, Kang, Kwon, and Ryu households, plus the Japanese Sato family and Chinese Sun family. Several Korean families feature members with different surnames (for example, the Baek family includes Nayeon Kang, and the Joo family includes Sohyeon Choi), reflecting Korean naming conventions where spouses keep their birth surnames after marriage.
Residence Details
Each housed family's residence has distinct characteristics that affect gameplay. The following table summarizes the key details for all 11 occupied residential lots across both cities:
Residence | City | Family | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Gaya Apartments, Bldg 105 | Martin | Apartment | Cozy apartment for those who value comfort. Recommended for 3-4 person households with children. | |
Dowon Heights Building | Hwang | Penthouse | A penthouse for the truly wealthy offering breathtaking views of Dowon. Largest lot in the city. | |
Metro House | Lee (Kyeongtae) | House | Conveniently located near a subway station, allowing for easy travel access anywhere. | |
Moaville | Lee (Jean) | Mixed-use | A mixed-use lot. The Plesio Gaming Cafe 2.0 is located on the second floor. | |
Sandeul Villa | Park (elders) | Standalone villa | A standalone house that truly feels like home. Warm and charming. | |
Mugunghwa Villa | Kim (Minjeong) | Villa | Spacious yet cozy, with a bright living room ideal for heartwarming talks. | |
19 Beachfront Drive | Abbott | 3-story house | Complete with workout equipment and entertainment facilities. Beachfront location. | |
420 Kingsbury Court | Collins | 1-story house | A refined home with sleek interiors and ample space. | |
Ocean Bliss Apartment | Murphy | 12th-floor apartment | A twelfth-floor apartment in a fifteen-story building. | |
1011 Willowtree Lane | Williams | 2-story house | Features private rooms and generously sized shared spaces. | |
Heaven Hill Apartments | Yoon | Apartment | Modest but cozy. Recommended for 1-2 person households. Park-adjacent. |
Property values range from 17,442 Meow for the Yoon family's Heaven Hill apartment to 329,181 Meow for the Abbott family's beachfront home and 251,707 Meow for the Hwang penthouse. When a housed family runs low on funds, their property value represents significant equity that cannot be directly liquidated, so managing money carefully is important, especially for families like the Yoon (3,000 starting Meow) and Kim at Mugunghwa Villa (5,000 starting Meow).
Notable Family Backstories
Several premade families come with written backstories that appear on the family selection screen. These descriptions hint at each household's personalities, dynamics, and narrative hooks. Reading them before choosing a family helps match a household to your preferred play style.
Family | City | Backstory |
|---|---|---|
Connor | The Connor family seems blessed with incredible luck, with everything going their way even as plans change. Kenneth and Caroline may not be perfect parents, but they are good enough, and their children Jordan and Natalie manage just fine on their own. Simply making it through the day is good enough for this family. | |
Yoon (Bliss Bay) | Everyone dreams of a fresh start, and the Yoon family was no exception. They were certain Bliss Bay would be perfect for their new beginning. But the coastal city felt foreign in every way: the food, language, and culture. They soon realized the only ones they could rely on were each other. | |
Kim (Minwoo) | This odd couple started living together to ease the burden of rent costs, despite having completely opposite personalities and preferences. Spending time together in the same home for so long seems to have left its mark on both of them. | |
Martin | The wealthiest premade family in the game, the Martins live in Gaya Apartments with 200,000 Meow. They offer a comfortable starting experience for players who want financial freedom from the start. | |
Murphy | Nathan Murphy and Nathan Lucas share an apartment at Ocean Bliss. With only 7,000 Meow between them, this roommate pair presents an early financial challenge in a prime coastal location. |
These backstories provide starting narrative hooks. The Connor family suits players who want a laid-back household, the Yoon family offers a fish-out-of-water story in a new city, and the Kim (Minwoo) roommates present a comedic odd-couple dynamic. The Martin family is ideal for players who prefer a stress-free financial situation, while the Murphy roommates appeal to those who enjoy an underdog, budget-conscious playthrough.
Splitting and Merging Households
After selecting a premade family, you are not locked into keeping the original household composition. inZOI allows you to split and merge families at any time through the family management tools.
To split a household, open the Edit City menu and select "Manage Family," then choose "Move Zois Between Families." Select the Zoi you want to relocate and use the directional arrow to transfer them to another existing family or a newly created one. This is useful if you want to move an adult child out on their own or separate roommates into different homes.
Family Dynamics
Merging works the same way but in reverse: move Zois from one family into another until the source family is empty. The empty family is then automatically removed. Remember that households cannot exceed 8 Zois total, so you cannot merge two large families together if the combined count would go over the limit.
There is currently no way to delete an individual Zoi from a family directly. To permanently remove a family member, you must either move them to a separate household or allow them to die through in-game events such as accidents, starvation, fire, or electrocution. Entire families can be deleted from the "All Families" menu using the trash icon.
Household Size Limit
inZOI supports a maximum of 8 Zois per household. This cap applies to all families, whether premade or player-created. The composition can be any mix of life stages, but at least one Adult or Young Adult must be present. Once a household reaches 8 members, no new Zois can be added and all pregnancy attempts will fail.
None of the premade families start at the 8-member cap. The largest premade family is the Williams household (6 members), leaving room for two additional members through pregnancy, adoption, or adding new Zois in the editor. If you plan to grow a premade family, keep the cap in mind when choosing your starting household.
Choosing a Premade Family
When deciding which premade family to play, consider the following factors:
Family size: Solo Zois offer focused storytelling; large families like the Williams (6 members) provide busy household management. Couples and duos split the difference between solitary focus and social dynamics.
Starting Meow: The Martin family's 200,000 Meow gives financial freedom, while the Yoon family's 3,000 Meow creates a survival challenge. Most unhoused families follow a predictable formula based on household size.
Housing status: Housed families let you start playing immediately; unhoused families require house-hunting first but let you choose any neighborhood in any city.
Backstory: Read the family description in the selection screen for narrative hooks that match your preferred play style. Some families have comedy dynamics, others have dramatic or challenging storylines.
City preference: Pick a family from the city you want to explore. Dowon is an urban Korean-inspired metropolis, while Bliss Bay is a relaxed coastal town inspired by Santa Monica.
Unique exceptions: The Cooper family (82,500 Meow for 3 members) and Lee (Kyeongtae) family (77,500 Meow solo) offer unusually high starting funds compared to other families of their size.
Traits and Desired Lives: Each premade Zoi has pre-assigned traits and desired lives that shape their autonomous behavior. If you want a specific personality type, check the family members' traits in the editor before committing.
Growth potential: Smaller families have more room to grow through pregnancy and new members (up to the 8-Zoi cap). The Williams family at 6 members can only add 2 more.
Premade families can be fully edited after selection. Change their appearance, traits, and relationships in Create a Zoi before starting play. You can also split or merge households later through the family management tools.
Tips for New Players
If you want the easiest financial start, choose the Martin family in Dowon (200,000 Meow, already housed). Their Gaya Apartments residence is comfortable and centrally located.
For a challenge, try the Yoon family in Bliss Bay (3,000 Meow) or the Kim family at Mugunghwa Villa in Dowon (5,000 Meow). Both require careful money management from day one.
The Williams family (6 members) is great for testing large household management and juggling multiple Zois' needs and careers.
Solo Zois like Eunice Choi or Ricardo Garcia in Bliss Bay let you focus on a single character's story without distractions. They also have full room to grow the household later.
Unhoused families give you the flexibility to pick any neighborhood. Use Build Mode to construct a custom home or browse available lots in the housing menu.
The Hwang couple at Dowon Heights has the most expensive residence (251,707 Meow property value) plus 100,000 liquid Meow, making them the highest total-net-worth household.
The Park elders at Sandeul Villa offer a unique gameplay experience as Senior Zois. Their shorter remaining lifespan adds urgency to completing ambitions and bucket-list goals.
Before starting play, check each family member's traits and Desired Life in the editor. These affect autonomous behavior, skill growth, and need decay rates, so understanding them helps you plan your household's activities.
If you dislike any aspect of a premade family, you can change everything except pre-existing family relationships before starting. Appearance, names, traits, values, and desired lives are all editable.
Consider disabling aging in Options if you want to preserve your premade family's composition without worrying about children growing up or elderly Zois passing away.
Complete Family Statistics
Across both cities, the 84 premade families contain a total of approximately 270 individual Zois. The combined starting Meow across all families totals several million, distributed as follows:

The four-member household is the single most common family size, accounting for 38 of the 84 total premade families (roughly 45%). This reflects a typical two-parent, two-child structure. Three-member families are the second most common at 25 households, followed by solo Zois (10), couples (7), and larger families of five or six members (4).
