Overview

Every career in inZOI falls into one of two categories: Active or Rabbit Hole. The distinction affects how your Zoi experiences work, how fast they get promoted, and how much direct control you have during their shift. There is also a small set of Part-Time careers with lighter schedules. Understanding these categories is essential for choosing the right career path based on your playstyle.

Active Careers

In an active career, you can see the interior of the workplace and directly control your Zoi during their shift. You perform specific work tasks that fill the promotion progress bar, interact with coworkers, and engage with the work environment. Each city has its own set of active workplaces.

Active Career Mechanics

• Task list: A task list appears in the top-left corner during your shift. Complete assignments before time runs out to fill the career bar quickly.

• Direct control: You move your Zoi around the workplace, interact with objects, and perform mini-games or timed tasks.

• Coworker relationships: You can build relationships with coworkers during shifts, which may affect workplace events.

• Faster promotion: Completing tasks directly fills the career bar. Promotions come in as few as 3 to 4 working days with consistent task completion.

Rabbit Hole Careers

In a rabbit hole career, your Zoi boards a taxi and disappears for the duration of their shift. You cannot enter the workplace or directly control your Zoi. Instead, you receive periodic notifications and are presented with workplace events to respond to. The majority of careers in inZOI are rabbit hole type.

Rabbit Hole Career Mechanics

• Attendance-based: The career bar fills primarily by attending shifts. Simply showing up and staying for the full shift contributes progress.

• Workplace events: Random events and dilemmas appear during the shift. These are short decision prompts where you choose how your Zoi reacts. Good choices fill the career bar faster.

• Slower promotion: Promotions take roughly 8 to 10 working days per rank because you cannot directly complete tasks.

• Vacancy system: Some top-rank positions have employee limits (for example, only 1 Editor-in-Chief per newspaper). If the slot is filled, you must wait for an opening even if your bar is full.

Part-Time Careers

Part-time careers are active jobs with lighter schedules and typically lower pay. They work 3 days per week.

Attendance Rules (All Career Types)

These rules apply to every career in inZOI:

• Three strikes: Three unexcused absences result in being fired.

• Late arrivals: Arriving after the scheduled start time reduces career bar progress for that shift.

• Leaving early: Ending a shift before the scheduled end time counts as a partial absence and slows promotion.

• Schedule changes: Shortening your work schedule through the Careers app hinders promotion speed. Keep the default schedule for fastest advancement.

Choosing the Right Type

Use this decision framework to pick the career type that matches your playstyle:

• Want interactive gameplay during work? Choose an active career. You directly control your Zoi, complete tasks, and engage with the workplace environment.

• Want the highest salary? Choose a rabbit hole career. The Criminal Boss (2,169 Meow) and Partner Lawyer (2,040 Meow) are the highest-paying positions in the game, and both are rabbit hole.

• Want fast promotions? Choose an active career. You can promote in 3-4 working days by completing tasks efficiently, compared to 8-10 working days for rabbit hole careers.

• Want minimal effort? Choose a rabbit hole career. Just make sure your Zoi shows up on time and stays the full shift. Respond to workplace events when they appear, but the baseline requirement is attendance.

• Want a side job alongside other activities? Choose a part-time career or a 3-day rabbit hole career. Both leave plenty of free days for fishing, gardening, business ownership, or other pursuits.

• Want the best Meow-per-hour? Choose a 6-hour shift career (Law, Professor, Football, or Finance). The Partner Lawyer earns 340 Meow per hour, the best ratio in the game.

Tips

• Keep your Zoi's needs high before any work shift. A hungry or tired Zoi performs worse in both active tasks and rabbit hole events.

• For rabbit hole careers, the single most important factor is showing up on time and staying the entire shift.

• Active careers are best for players who enjoy gameplay during work hours. Rabbit hole careers are best for players who prefer to focus on other activities between shifts.

• You can switch careers at any time through the Smartphone Careers app. Switching resets your career bar to zero at the new job.

• Consider starting with an active career for faster early income, then switching to a higher-paying rabbit hole career once you have savings and can afford the slower promotion pace.
