Overview
The Sword of the Wolf is Kliff's starting one-handed sword in Crimson Desert. It is the first weapon players wield when beginning the game and serves as an introduction to the sword-based combat system. The sword comes equipped from the very first encounter and cannot be sold, making it a permanent fixture in Kliff's inventory.

With an Attack rating of 12 and three open Abyss Core slots, the Sword of the Wolf is a capable weapon that can carry players through the early story chapters. Its name references Kliff's connection to the Greymane mercenaries, the wolf-themed mercenary band at the center of the game's narrative.

How to Obtain
The Sword of the Wolf is starting equipment for Kliff. It is available in your inventory from the moment you gain control of the character. There is no quest, vendor, or crafting requirement to acquire it. The weapon cannot be purchased from merchants, and since it cannot be sold, it will remain in your inventory throughout the entire game.
Combat Notes
As a standard one-handed sword, the Sword of the Wolf uses the full sword moveset: light slash chains, heavy overhead strikes, and the option to pair with a shield for parry-and-riposte gameplay. Its Attack of 12 puts it on par with other early-game swords, and it handles well enough to serve as your primary weapon through the first several hours.
The three empty Abyss Core slots are the Sword of the Wolf's biggest asset. Early in the game, most weapons come with empty slots, so the playing field is level. But as you begin collecting Abyss Cores from exploration and combat, socketing them into the Sword of the Wolf can significantly change how it performs. Critical hit chance cores, elemental damage cores, and attack speed cores are all viable options depending on your preferred playstyle.
Because it cannot be sold, some players keep the Sword of the Wolf as a backup weapon even after upgrading to stronger swords. It costs nothing to maintain and, with full refinement and three strong cores, it remains a serviceable option for situations where your primary weapon breaks or you want a specific core loadout for a particular boss fight.
Refinement
The Sword of the Wolf can be refined up to level 10 at any Blacksmith. Since this is your starter weapon, investing early refinement materials here is a practical choice. The Attack increase from refinement helps the weapon keep pace with newer drops through the early chapters.
Whether you should invest heavily in refining the Sword of the Wolf depends on how quickly you find a replacement. If you pick up a Glenmore Sword or Sydmon Sword early, it may be better to save your materials for the higher-base-Attack weapon. But if you are playing through content quickly and not stopping to farm, a few refinement levels on the Sword of the Wolf keep it competitive.
Lore
The Sword of the Wolf carries thematic significance as Kliff's personal blade. The Greymane mercenaries use wolf imagery throughout their faction identity, from their banner to their camp decorations. Kliff's sword bearing this name reflects his role as a core member of the Greymanes and his personal connection to the pack mentality that defines the group's ethos.
