Overview

The Fine Fishing Rod Blueprint is a crafting manual in Crimson Desert that teaches the recipe for building the Fine Fishing Rod. The Fine Fishing Rod is an upgraded rod that reduces the wait time between fish bites, making fishing more efficient compared to the default Beginner's Rod.
How to Obtain
Location: Bought at Calphade's Back Alley Shop, southeast of Hernand.
Cost: 10 Silver.
The blueprint is sold by Grimrak, the merchant who runs the Back Alley Shop in Calphade. This shop is located in a tucked-away alley southeast of the main Hernand market area. The same vendor also sells other specialized items like the Poison Arrow Blueprint.
Crafting the Fine Fishing Rod
After purchasing the blueprint, take it to a blacksmith along with the required materials:
Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
10 | |
10 | |
3 | |
Feathers | 10 |
Fine Timber can be gathered from special tree nodes or purchased from vendors. Feathers drop from bird enemies and can also be purchased at general goods stores.
Fine Fishing Rod Stats
Reduced Bite Time: Fish bite more quickly when using the Fine Fishing Rod, cutting down on idle waiting at fishing spots.
The improvement is noticeable but modest compared to the Beginner's Rod. For a more substantial upgrade, consider working toward the Pororin Rod through the research system.
Tips
At 10 Silver, this blueprint is relatively expensive for early-game players. If you are short on funds, consider saving for other equipment first and upgrading your fishing rod later.
The crafting materials (especially 10 Feathers) can take time to gather. Hunt birds in the open world or check vendors in larger towns for Feather stocks.
If you plan on completing all fishing challenges and catching rare fish, the Fine Fishing Rod is a worthwhile stepping stone toward better rods.
The Back Alley Shop also sells the Poison Arrow Blueprint, so visit Grimrak when you have the funds to pick up both.
Tannery Vendor Bypass
The blueprint is not the only route to the Fine Fishing Rod. A tannery vendor at a small lodge south of Hernand (west of the Steel Mountains) sells the finished rod outright for 45 silver. There is no crafting step on that path. The blueprint route covered in this article is still cheaper overall (10 silver plus materials, versus 45 silver flat), but it does require gathering Fine Timber, Iron Ore, Thick Hide, and Feathers and visiting a blacksmith to craft. Pick whichever route fits your current silver and material reserves.
Common Mistake: Forgetting to Read the Book
After purchasing the blueprint, open your inventory and select the item, then confirm the read prompt to learn the recipe. The blacksmith crafting menu will not show the Fine Fishing Rod recipe until you have read the book yourself. This catches several players who buy the blueprint, head straight to the blacksmith, and find the recipe missing from the list.
Travel Tip From Hernand
From the fast travel point in Hernand, the fastest approach is a triple aerial force palm into a glide aimed at the windmill landmark. The Calphade Back Alley Shop sits a short walk from the windmill itself. It is easy to overshoot the back alley because the windmill is the most visible landmark on approach, so use the windmill as your visual anchor and slow your descent before passing it.
