Grog is a family of three Rare ship-combat buff drinks in Windrose: Deadeye Grog (+15% damage), Hard Grog (+15% damage resistance), and Gunroom Grog (+15% firearm reload speed). All brewed at the Alchemy Table; 30-minute base duration, 90 minutes with Naval Tactics III: Stretch The Supply.
Grog is a family of three Rare buff drinks in Windrose. Each Grog variant provides a 15% combat bonus for 30 minutes of real time: Deadeye Grog for Damage, Hard Grog for Damage Resistance, and Gunroom Grog for firearm reload speed. All three are brewed at the Alchemy Table (Stove and Pot upgrade) and all interact with Naval Tactics III: Stretch The Supply for extended duration.
All three Grogs are Rare, require the Alchemy Table with the Stove and Pot upgrade, and use Rum Bottles as the base ingredient.
Brewing Setup
The Alchemy Table only works when it is placed under cover, so the station needs a roof above it before any Grog can be brewed. A small enclosed structure, even a basic two-by-two wooden roof, satisfies the check; an open-air table will refuse to start the craft. The Stove and Pot upgrade is what unlocks the Grog line specifically, separating it from the table's plain potion recipes. Rosalinda Mercer, the hireable Alchemist, can be stationed at the table to keep brew output running while you are away.
Flavor: rum and whiskey cut with cayenne. Pairs with ranged builds that burn through gunpowder.
Interaction with Naval Tactics III
Grogs are the primary beneficiary of Naval Tactics III: Stretch The Supply, which adds +200% Grog duration. With Stretch The Supply equipped, the 30-minute base stretches to 90 minutes (30 x 3 = 90). One brew session typically lasts an entire play session.
When to Use Each
Deadeye Grog before boss fights, hauler farms, or any engagement where damage output determines kill time. Works for both melee and ranged weapons.
Hard Grog before dungeon runs or extended tanking exchanges. The flat 15% DR stacks with armor set bonuses like Conquistador 2P (+15% DR) and Tracker 4P (+15% DR).
Gunroom Grog when running a Marksman build that relies on Active Reload cadence. The +15% reload speed compounds with talents like Planning Ahead and Quick Hand.
Sourcing the Ingredients
Every Grog is built on four Rum Bottles plus two named spirits and a flavoring. The spirits, Madeira, Brandy, and Whiskey, along with Coffee Beans, Lime, and Cayenne Pepper, come from tavern sellers and looted supplies rather than raw gathering, so stock up whenever a port vendor is carrying them. Because one brew cycle of any Grog covers a long stretch of play once duration is extended, it is worth batching all three before a session: a damage Grog, a defensive Grog, and a reload Grog let you swap buffs to match whatever fight comes up without a return trip to the table.
