Faction Insignia
Faction Insignia are the main hand-in currency for raising Faction Reputation on Tortuga. Four of the five items are insignia stripped from Blackbeard's dead crew, ranked by the rarity of the soldier they came off. The fifth, the Letter of Favor, is a generic reputation token that works the same way.
All five are delivered at any archipelago faction vendor on Tortuga. Higher-rarity insignias grant more reputation per turn-in. Stack size is 200, so running a dozen stacks back to port after a clean boarding is a viable reputation grind.
The Five Tokens
Image | Token | Rarity | Flavor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newhand Insignia | Uncommon | A fresh-pressed mark carried by Blackbeard's newest hands. "Proof Blackbeard can afford to lose men." |
| Deckhand Insignia | Rare | Worn by sailors who have survived a few hard runs under Blackbeard's flag. "Worn by hands that don't hesitate to kill." |
| Veteran Insignia | Epic | Only true cutthroats who know every dirty trick are worthy to carry one. "Taken from someone who didn't make mistakes." |
| Old Salt Insignia | Legendary | A scarred, storied mark from a true sea-dog of Blackbeard's crews. "This belonged to someone who outlived mercy." |
| Letter of Favor | Rare | A signed letter vouching for the bearer's loyalty. "A favor in writing: the pirate's version of a royal pardon." |
Which Faction to Turn Them In To
All four archipelago factions accept the full insignia set:
Pick the faction whose vendors and quests you want to unlock next. Reputation is per-faction, not shared, and the insignia are consumed on hand-in.
How to Obtain
Looted directly from Blackbeard's crews during ship-to-ship engagements and boarding actions.
Dropped by Blackbeard-aligned lieutenants and officers during land encounters.
Letter of Favor is a rarer roll and tends to come from officers rather than rank-and-file crew.
Tips
Bank insignia until you have a clear faction priority. Once turned in they are gone, and splitting a stack across two factions is less efficient than pushing one faction into its next reward tier.
Newhand insignias drop in bulk from low-level Blackbeard crews. Run the Blackbeard Outposts for volume early.
Old Salt insignias are rare and worth saving for the final reputation pushes where the per-item gain matters.

Reputation Point Values
Each token is worth a fixed number of reputation points on hand-in. Higher-rarity insignia grant proportionally more, which is why banking Old Salt Insignia for the final rank pushes is more efficient than spending them during the first few ranks.
Token | Reputation Points |
|---|---|
1 point | |
4 points | |
Letter of Favor | 10 points |

Letter of Favor Quest Rewards
Unlike insignia, Letters of Favor also arrive as quest-completion rewards rather than combat drops. Two named side quests currently pay out in bundles large enough to matter for an early rank push:
Buccaneers (Quest): 5 Letters of Favor on completion.
Catastrophe's Aftermath: 10 Letters of Favor on completion.
A single Catastrophe's Aftermath payout is worth 100 reputation points on its own, which is usually enough to move a fresh account out of Rank 0 with the faction the Letters are turned in to. See Faction Reputation for the full rank gate and hand-in workflow.
