Buccaneers (Quest)

Overview

The Buccaneers quest is the faction-chain entry for the Rogue Buccaneers. It is not to be confused with the Buccaneers faction lore article. The quest asks the player to complete a set of deliveries for contacts tied to the faction, and completing it opens access to the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base and the Glorious Hunters follow-up quest.

How to Start

Players pick up the Buccaneers quest after establishing their camp and completing the early tutorial chain (see Islander and I Need a Bigger Boat). The chain is typically triggered by finding a letter or contract at a Buccaneer camp, which directs the player to bring goods to Henri Boucher.

Completing the Buccaneers chain grants a substantial Rogue Buccaneers reputation boost, Letters of Favor, and access to the Rogue Buccaneers Provisioner at the Main Base.

What Unlocks Next

After Buccaneers, the Glorious Hunters side quest becomes available at the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base via Henri Boucher. The quest chain also teaches players where to find the Smugglers of Port Royal and opens the path to the Underground Network quest.

Tips

• Save your Buccaneers chain until you have Millstones to farm Gunpowder. Looting 50 bags from pirates takes many raids.

• Maintain two active cooked-food buffs when sailing to the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base. The surrounding waters host pirate vessels.

• The Broken Musket and Marcel's diary pages found during Glorious Hunters are tied to this same NPC (Henri Boucher).

Stages

The numbered flow below mirrors the objective list in the quest log. Each entry shows the in-game objective title, the journal description the player sees when the stage becomes active, and any stage-bound Required Items or Rewards.

Stage 1: Get 50 Bags of Gunpowder for the Buccaneers and Deliver Them to Henri Boucher

The Buccaneers' camp is still standing, but only just, pirate attacks have drained their powder stores. I need to gather fifty filled gunpowder bags and deliver them to Henri, or the hunters are done for.

Stage 2: Deliver the Shipment of Tanned Hides to Charlie Sharpe

Henri thanked me for the gunpowder and asked me to deliver the tanned hides to Charlie Sharpe at the People of Tortuga camp.

Stage 3: Cook 20 Skewered Meat

I delivered the tanned hides to Charlie Sharpe. Now he asks me to cook 20 Skewered Meat and pass it to Buccaneers alongside a rum barrel.

Stage 4: Deliver Rum and 20 Skewered Meat to Henri Boucher

The meat is ready. Now you can return to Henri Boucher and deliver the dishes, and a squat little barrel from the grateful locals.

Delivery Objectives at a Glance

The Buccaneers side quest runs three consecutive delivery steps across two friendly faction camps. The consolidated table makes it easier to stage materials before starting rather than returning to camp between legs:

Delivery Routing

Taking the direct sea route from the Buccaneers camp to the People of Tortuga camp forces combat with multiple Blackbeard Haulers. The Haulers are individually weak, but the pack pulls together fast and is dangerous for players still learning naval combat. Fast traveling to the starting island and sailing from there is slower on paper but almost always safer. Use the Fast Travel option unless the naval practice is desirable.

Skewered Meat Supply

The final delivery needs 20 Skewered Meat. Skewered Meat cooks at a Cooking Fire from raw Meat dropped by Boars and Sows. Twenty units is a substantial hunt but fits inside a single Coastal Jungle circuit if the route also picks up the Rough Hide for a Sailor Backpack. The Barrel of Rum handed over by Charlie Sharpe does not require crafting; it is a quest item that advances automatically.

Death Protection

Quest items like the Barrel of Rum and the Bale of Tanned Hides are protected on death and remain in the inventory on respawn. Ordinary resources gathered on the same run (Gunpowder, Meat, crafting materials) follow standard death rules and drop at the death location for retrieval. This matters because the first delivery specifically asks for 50 Gunpowder, which is easy to lose on a wipe.

Rewards

Experience, 50x Piastre and 5x Letter of Favor are awarded on completion. The Letters of Favor can be handed in to any archipelago faction to advance reputation, so save them until the preferred faction is identified.
