Defense

Like all Rare and Uncommon armor, Conquistador's Cuirass has three crafting tiers that set its base Defense. Each tier can be upgraded several more levels at the Upgrading Station using the same recipe materials.

Crafting

Requires the craft plan Plans: Conquistador's Cuirass to be unlocked first. The Plans: Conquistador's Cuirass is sold by the Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner at Reputation Rank 2 for 200 Piastres; the Provisioner is reached by building reputation with Smugglers of Port Royal.

Each tier unlocks a new workshop attachment: the Shoemaker's Bench at ilvl 6 and the Material Rack at ilvl 11. Both attach to the Armor and Clothing Workshop and require its Bonfire coverage to function.

Set Bonuses

Conquistador's Cuirass counts toward the Conquistador's Armor 5-piece set. Set bonuses apply globally once the stated number of pieces are equipped at the same time.

• The torso piece has the highest material cost in the set (typically 4 of the primary metal or leather for the first tier). Expect to grind that material before committing.

• Counts as one piece toward the Conquistador's Armor 2-piece and 4-piece bonuses: pairing it with a second piece from the same set is usually the minimum to get value out of the plan.

Set Pieces

The Conquistador's Armor set has five slots. Equipping more pieces from the same set unlocks the 2-piece and 4-piece bonuses listed above, so most players craft and upgrade these slots together rather than mixing armor families. The full slot list is below.

Role and Playstyle

Conquistador's Cuirass is the torso slot of the game's highest-Defense set, so it is the single most impactful piece for a tanky build. Its Defense rises to 300 at item level 11, matching the Conquistador's Helmet and the other slots in the Conquistador's Armor line.

The cuirass plan is one of the earliest set plans you can buy: the Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner sells it at Reputation Rank 2 for 200 Piastres, alongside the legs plan. Because the torso slot has the highest material cost in the set, stock up on Copper Ingot for the first tier and Mire Metal Ingot for the top tier before crafting.

Pair the cuirass with the helmet for the 15% Damage Resistance 2-piece bonus, then add two more slots to unlock the Bulwark 4-piece, which prevents the first few incoming hits from interrupting your attacks. This makes the set a strong base for slow, heavy two-handed weapons such as the Halberd.
