Armor and equipment in Windrose provide defense against enemy attacks and offer set bonuses that reinforce specific playstyles. Like weapons, armor follows a rarity tier system and can be upgraded at crafting stations.
Rarity Tiers
Armor pieces follow the same four-tier rarity system as weapons:
Rarity | Description |
|---|---|
Common | Basic armor crafted from early materials like wood and rough hide |
Uncommon | Standard armor with improved defense values |
Rare | Named set pieces with defensive bonuses |
Epic | The strongest armor with powerful set bonuses |
Known Armor Sets
Armor sets provide bonuses when multiple pieces from the same set are equipped. Bonuses activate at 2-piece and 4-piece thresholds:
Set Name | 2-Piece Bonus | 4-Piece Bonus |
|---|---|---|
Flibustier's Attire | Attacks consume 20% less Stamina | +15% one-handed weapon Damage |
Privateer's Regalia | +10% Critical Hit Chance | +10% Critical Damage per nearby enemy (max 30%) |
Marksman's Rig | Sprint, jump, and dash consume 20% less Stamina | Details not yet confirmed |
Scavengers | Details not yet confirmed | Details not yet confirmed |
Armor Pieces
A full armor loadout consists of multiple pieces covering different body slots. Known pieces include helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, and leg armor. Each piece has a DEF (defense) stat and may belong to a named set.
Example Piece | Set | Rarity | DEF |
|---|---|---|---|
Flibustier's Jacket | Flibustier's Attire | Rare | 100 |
Privateer's Gloves | Privateer's Regalia | Rare | 100 |
Conquistador's Helmet | Unknown | Rare | 100 |
Early Game Armor
Early armor pieces require basic resources, typically two to six Rough Hides per piece. Rough Hide is obtained by hunting wild boars found across the islands. The Scavengers set is an early milestone that requires copper to craft.
Upgrading Armor
Armor can be upgraded at crafting stations to increase its defense value and durability. The upgrade system uses materials gathered from the world. Focus on upgrading your equipped set rather than spreading upgrades across multiple sets, as defense improvements make a noticeable difference in combat survivability.
Build Synergy
Armor set bonuses are designed to complement specific weapon choices and playstyles:
Flibustier's Attire pairs well with aggressive melee builds using sabers and rapiers, since reduced stamina cost allows more attacks per combo
Privateer's Regalia rewards players who fight groups of enemies, gaining more critical damage per nearby foe
Marksman's Rig suits mobile builds that rely on repositioning, dodging, and ranged weapons
Combined with the talent system attribute choices, armor sets create meaningful build diversity where two characters with the same weapons can play very differently based on their armor bonuses and stat investments.
Disassembly
Unwanted armor pieces can be recycled at the Disassembly Bench for 100% material recovery. This encourages experimenting with different sets since you can always recover your investment when switching to a new build.
