Dragonite is a Dragon/Flying-type Pokemon found in Sparkling Skylands. It is one of the most important Pokemon in Pokopia because it teaches the Glide transformation, which allows Ditto to fly through the air and is essential for navigating the floating islands of Sparkling Skylands. Dragonite also has dual specialties (Fly and Water), making it one of the most versatile Pokemon on the player's island.
Dragonite appears after the player builds the Waterside Dinghy habitat in Sparkling Skylands. Search for the habitat clue high up near the ruined Pokemon Center. The habitat requires:
Material | Quantity | Where to Find |
|---|---|---|
Canoe | 1 | Found near the habitat clue location in Sparkling Skylands |
Duckweed | 2 | Create with powered-up Leafage (eat Salad) on water surfaces |
Water | 2 | Any water source; use Suck ability to place if needed |
High-Up Location | 1 | Build on elevated terrain or an existing high platform |
After building the Waterside Dinghy habitat, Dragonite appears and has a request: bring it 5 Alarm Clocks. Alarm Clocks can be found in Poke Ball item pickups scattered around Sparkling Skylands, purchased from the Pokemon Center PC Shop, or obtained from Glowing Blocks. After delivering the Alarm Clocks, speak to Dragonite again to learn the Glide transformation.
Glide is one of the 14 Ditto Transformations and one of four full-body transformations in the game. When activated, Ditto morphs into a Dragonite form and can soar through the air.
Detail | Info |
|---|---|
Controls | Press R to jump, press R again mid-air to transform and glide |
Acceleration | Press B while gliding to speed up |
Movement | Full directional control; gradually descends over time |
Limitation | Cannot gain altitude after transforming; descends slowly |
Glide is essential for traversing the gaps between Sparkling Skylands' floating islands. It is also required to reach Tinkmaster's tower island. While Glide gradually loses altitude, launching from high points allows covering large distances.
Dragonite is one of few Pokemon with two specialties:
The Fly specialty allows fast travel to any Pokemon's location. Open the Pokedex, search for a specific Pokemon, then speak to Dragonite. It will fly the player directly to that Pokemon's location, saving significant travel time. This works alongside the Search specialty (from Pidgey, Paras, Venonat) and the Teleport specialty (from Mewtwo).
The Water specialty lets Dragonite spray water on nearby fields and plants from a full water source. It can fill Water Basins to hydrate crops, increase humidity at Rain Dance sites, and clean mud with bubbles so the player can wash it with Water Gun. Place Dragonite's habitat near farming areas for passive crop watering.

Dragonite's Fly specialty makes it one of the best Pokemon for daily island management. Pair it with a Search-specialty Pokemon (Pidgey, Venonat) for instant locate-and-travel.
Place Dragonite's habitat near your crop fields to take advantage of its Water specialty for automatic watering.
When gliding, launch from the highest available point. Glide gradually descends, so more altitude means more distance covered.
The Dragonite Doll is used to access the Sky Dream Island, which contains Pokemetal Fragments and has a chance of spawning Mewtwo.
