Media Production is one of the 27 skills available in inZOI. It governs a Zoi's ability to create digital content, including photographs, selfie posts, and edited videos. The in-game description reads: "This Skill governs a Zoi's ability to produce videos and content online. You can sell your videos for extra Meow." Media Production is available from the Teenager life stage through Elder.
Unlike the Art skill, which produces physical objects like paintings, Media Production creates digital products that are sold directly through your computer. The skill also connects to the Bubbly social media platform, where Zois can post selfies and build an online presence. At higher levels, Media Production unlocks lucrative video types and exclusive Level 10 actions that can generate significant income.
There are several methods for raising Media Production, each with different efficiency and time requirements.
The fastest early-game method for leveling Media Production is taking photos using your Zoi's smartphone camera. Click on your Zoi and select the photo-taking action. Each photo session contributes experience, and the action is very quick, so you can repeat it multiple times in rapid succession with no cooldown. This makes photography the most efficient way to build the skill from Level 0 through the early levels. Photos can also be taken at designated selfie spots around Dowon and Bliss Bay for additional variety.
Important: Taking photos in Camera Mode (the player's screenshot tool) does not affect the Media Production skill. Only in-game photography actions performed by your Zoi through their smartphone count toward skill progression.
Zois can post selfies to Bubbly, the in-game social media platform. To use this action, click on your Zoi and select "Post a Selfie to Social Media" from the smartphone action menu. This requires your Zoi to have at least 60 points in the Challenger Value. The Challenger Value reflects a Zoi's desire for adventure and breaking from routine. Traits like Adventurer naturally provide high Challenger Value, making this action available from the start. Posting selfies provides Media Production experience and satisfies the "Wants to Post a Selfie on Social Media" urge, giving a positive mood boost. Note that neighbors may react negatively to frequent selfie posting.
The primary mid-to-late-game method is creating videos on a computer or laptop. Select the "Edit Video" or "Create Video" option from the skill actions menu. Video editing earns substantial experience and produces sellable products. At Level 0, only basic video editing is available, but new video types unlock at Levels 3, 4, and 5. Creating videos takes significantly longer than photography (approximately 7.5 hours of in-game time early on, decreasing to under 2 hours at Level 9+), but the income per project is much higher.
Two practice actions are available on any computer:
Activity | Duration | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Practice Photo Editing | 8-9 minutes | Quick skill gain, no sellable product |
Practice Video Editing | 19-20 minutes | More XP per session than photo editing |
Watching Reality Shows on TV (found under the Entertainment Programs category) provides a small supplementary boost to Media Production. Each session takes approximately 10 minutes. This is not a primary training method but can serve as a background activity while your Zoi recovers energy or waits for needs to refill.
As the Media Production skill increases, new video types become available. Each type has a different sale price range that scales with your skill level and the quality of the finished product.
Video Type | Unlock Level | Sale Range (Meow) |
|---|---|---|
Basic Video Editing | Level 0 | 15-375 |
Workout Video | Level 3 | 30-750 |
Performance Video | Level 3 | 30-750 |
Singing Video | Level 4 | 30-750 |
Comedy Video | Level 4 | 30-750 |
Advertisement Video | Level 5 | 40-1,000 |
Advertisement Videos are the most valuable type, but the guide community recommends waiting until close to Level 10 before producing them to maximize the sale value. At low skill levels, even Advertisement Videos sell for modest amounts, so focus on leveling through photography and practice first.
Every finished video receives a quality rating that directly determines its sale value. Higher skill levels increase the probability of producing better-quality videos. The following price ranges are based on community testing at high skill levels:
Quality | Approximate Sale Price |
|---|---|
Medium | 37-100 Meow |
Good | ~150 Meow |
Excellent | ~300 Meow |
Perfect | ~1,000 Meow |
Perfect-quality videos at Level 10 are the most profitable regular products, selling for up to 1,000 Meow each. Combined with the reduced production time at high levels (under 2 hours per video), a Level 10 Media Producer can generate steady income from video sales alone.
Reaching Level 10 in Media Production unlocks two exclusive high-value actions:
A special action available on any computer. Your Zoi receives a client request and produces custom advertisement content. The action takes approximately 20 minutes of in-game time and pays 1,000 Meow upon satisfying the client's requirements. There is a 3-day cooldown between Advertisement Content jobs, so this cannot be spammed for income. Think of it as a high-paying freelance gig that supplements regular video production.
A scheduled event that takes place on Sundays from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Your Zoi hosts a promotional broadcast for a brand. Note that this feature has been reported as unreliable in Early Access, with some players experiencing issues booking the event. Future patches may improve the consistency of this action.
Reaching certain Media Production levels unlocks special furniture items in Build Mode:
Level | Item | Price (Meow) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Level 3 | Vision Maker Computer | 5,300 | A high-end computer with all Excellent stats, ideal for video production |
Level 5 | Instant Film Picture Frame | - | Decorative wall item |
Level 5 | Creative Corkboard | - | Decorative furniture |
Level 7 | Vintage Camera | 259 | Decorative item for photography enthusiasts |
The Vision Maker Computer at Level 3 is the most practical unlock, providing a dedicated workstation with excellent performance for video editing. While any computer works for Media Production, the Vision Maker's high stats may improve workflow efficiency.
Media Production levels at a moderate pace compared to other skills. Community testing indicates approximately 3 in-game hours per level-up on average, with Level 0 to Level 1 being exceptionally fast. A dedicated Zoi can reach Level 10 in roughly 3 in-game days with focused play. The fastest approach is to spam photo-taking in the early levels (Levels 0-3), then switch to video production for the combination of income and experience in the mid-to-late levels (Levels 4-10).
It is important to understand the distinction between Photo Mode and the Media Production skill. Photo Mode is a player-facing tool that allows you to take detailed screenshots with control over camera angle, zoom, depth of field, and filters. Photos taken through Photo Mode are saved as screenshots for the player and can be shared on Canvas (inZOI's user-generated content platform).
Media Production, on the other hand, is a Zoi-level skill that involves the character performing in-game photography and video creation actions. When a Zoi takes a photo through their smartphone or creates a video on a computer, the Media Production skill is engaged. The key rule is: camera mode screenshots do not contribute to Media Production XP. Only actions initiated by your Zoi through their phone or computer count toward skill progression.
Media Production complements several career paths and creative pursuits:
Idol Trainee careers at Adam Entertainment include studying music production on computers as one of the work tasks, which builds Media Production alongside Performance.
Journalism careers benefit from photojournalism skills, where Media Production supports the visual documentation aspect alongside Critical Thinking and Rhetoric.
The 2026 roadmap includes planned freelance photography and blogging career paths for Q2 2026, which will likely use Media Production as a primary required skill.
Media Production provides a solid creative income stream, though it is generally less lucrative than painting at equivalent skill levels. The progression follows a clear pattern:
Levels 0-2: Spam photo-taking for quick XP. Photos are fast to produce but low-value. Focus on reaching Level 3.
Levels 3-5: Begin producing Workout and Performance Videos. Sell them for 30-750 Meow each depending on quality. Unlock Advertisement Videos at Level 5.
Levels 6-9: Focus on Advertisement Videos (40-1,000 Meow range). As quality improves, income spikes significantly with Excellent and Perfect quality outcomes.
Level 10: Combine regular video sales with the Create Advertisement Content action (1,000 Meow per job, 3-day cooldown) and Host Brand Promotion Broadcast on Sundays for maximum earnings.
Take photos rapidly in the early game since there is no cooldown between shots. This is the fastest way to reach Level 3 and start unlocking video types.
Buy a computer or laptop as early as possible. Video editing on a computer provides more XP per session than photography and produces sellable products.
Wait until Level 8 or higher before mass-producing Advertisement Videos. The quality improvement at high levels dramatically increases sale prices.
The Vision Maker Computer (unlocked at Level 3, costs 5,300 Meow) is a worthwhile investment if you plan to focus heavily on video production.
Pairing Media Production with a Focused or Concentrated mood buff accelerates skill gains during editing sessions.
Selfie posting to Bubbly requires 60+ Challenger Value. If your Zoi does not meet this threshold, focus on photography and video editing instead.
Combine Media Production with the Art skill for a dual creative income strategy. Paint when your Zoi has high energy, and switch to video editing when they prefer sitting down.
