Buying a car
Open the Smartphone (or press [P]) and select the Dream Car app (orange icon). Browse the available models, pick a color, and click Buy. The price is deducted from the household's Meow balance and the car appears outside the home on the street. To sell, open the same app and select the sell option.
Each Zoi can own one car. Only the Zoi who bought the car can drive it. Other household members can ride as passengers but cannot take the wheel.
Available models
There are 7 car models. All cars drive at the same speed. The differences are cosmetic.

Driving
Two driving modes exist:
Automatic (default): Press [M] to open the city map, click a destination, and select "Drive Here." The Zoi drives there on their own, following traffic laws. The game may show a loading screen for longer trips.
Manual: Enable in Options > Gameplay > Driving section. Once enabled, the player takes direct control:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
W / S | Accelerate / Brake |
A / D | Steer left / right |
Left-click -- Honk the horn | -- |
Tab | Switch between first-person and third-person camera |
Game speed locks at 1x during manual driving. The game does not allow fast-forwarding while behind the wheel.
Car accidents
Careless manual driving causes collisions with other vehicles or pedestrians. Hitting another car triggers an argument: both drivers get out and yell at each other. Hitting a Zoi on foot can cause a fatal traffic accident, which is one of the possible causes of death in the game.
Automatic driving occasionally results in crashes too, though less frequently than manual. After any collision, the car shows visible damage that can be repaired through the Car Interaction menu.
Car interactions
Click on a car to access these options:

Who can drive
Only Teenagers and older Zois can sit in the driver's seat. Children can ride as passengers but cannot drive. This matches the life stage system where Teenagers gain access to adult activities like driving and part-time jobs.
Cars vs other transportation
Cars are not necessarily faster than other transportation options. Walking and the subway system both move Zois around the city. Cars exist primarily for the role-playing experience and the social status of ownership. The developers have stated that inZOI is "not a driving simulator" and that they prioritized simulating the city population (up to 300 Zois with AI routines) over vehicle physics.
Build Mode cars
Decorative car objects exist in Build Mode for lot decoration, but these are non-functional props. They cannot be driven or interacted with beyond placement and removal.
