Overview

Every career in inZOI falls into one of two categories: Active or Rabbit Hole. The distinction affects how your Zoi experiences work, how fast they get promoted, and how much direct control you have during their shift. There is also a small set of Part-Time careers with lighter schedules. Understanding these categories is essential for choosing the right career path based on your playstyle.

Active Careers

In an active career, you can see the interior of the workplace and directly control your Zoi during their shift. You perform specific work tasks that fill the promotion progress bar, interact with coworkers, and engage with the work environment. Each city has its own set of active workplaces.

Active Career Task System

Each shift is divided into two halves (morning and afternoon). The Zoi receives 3 to 6 total tasks per day, split between the halves. Morning tasks must be completed before midday; afternoon tasks before the shift ends. Each task has a specific time limit.

• Task list: Appears in the top-left corner during the shift. Complete assignments before time runs out to fill the career bar.

• Direct control: You move the Zoi around the workplace, interact with objects, and perform timed tasks.

• Early departure: If all tasks are completed before the shift ends, the Zoi can leave early with full pay and no penalties.

• Failure: Missing a task deadline reduces job experience and slows promotion progress. The task is not repeated within the same shift.

Task Breakdowns by Career

Firefighter (Dowon Fire Station)

Workplace: multi-room fire station with locker room, weight room, meeting room, administrative office, and status board area.

Idol Trainee (Adam Entertainment)

Workplace: K-pop agency with training rooms for singing, dancing, and producing. The most demanding active career due to multi-skill requirements.

• Vocal practice (time-consuming, priority task)

• Dance practice (most time-consuming; high failure risk)

• Producing/music production study

• Language training

• Fitness training/gym workouts

Entertainment Planning (Adam Entertainment)

Amusement Park Field Worker (Bliss Bay)

Workplace: park grounds with ride entrances, tables, cleaning areas, locker room, and brochure stands.

Furniture Store Cashier (McKenzie, Bliss Bay)

Autonomy and Active Careers

The Autonomy setting (toggled with T) affects how active careers play:

• Autonomy ON (white eye icon): The Zoi attempts to complete work tasks automatically. They may succeed but can also wander off and fail tasks.

• Autonomy OFF (orange closed-eye icon): The player must manually interact with each object and queue every task.

• Critical rule: The player must be actively present with (controlling) the Zoi during their shift for promotion credit. If you send the Zoi to work but control a different household member during the shift, the Zoi earns salary but makes zero promotion progress.

Rabbit Hole Careers

In a rabbit hole career, your Zoi boards a taxi and disappears for the duration of their shift. You cannot enter the workplace or control the Zoi directly. Periodic notifications and workplace event choices appear during the shift.

All rabbit hole careers work 3 days per week. All 9 Cahaya careers are also rabbit hole type.

Rabbit Hole Career Mechanics

• Attendance-based: The career bar fills primarily by attending shifts. Simply showing up and staying the full shift contributes progress.

• Workplace events: Random events and dilemmas appear during the shift. Good choices fill the career bar faster.

• Slower promotion: Roughly 8 to 10 working days per rank because you cannot directly complete tasks.

• Vacancy system: Some top-rank positions have employee limits (e.g., only 1 Editor-in-Chief per newspaper). If the slot is filled, you must wait for an opening.

Part-Time Careers

Part-time careers are active jobs with lighter schedules and typically lower pay. They work 3 days per week.

Attendance Rules

These rules apply to every career type:

• Three strikes: Three unexcused absences result in being fired.

• Late arrivals: Arriving after the scheduled start time reduces career bar progress for that shift.

• Leaving early: Ending a shift before scheduled time counts as a partial absence and slows promotion (unless all tasks are completed for active careers).

• Schedule changes: Shortening your work schedule through the Careers app hinders promotion speed. Keep the default schedule for fastest advancement.

Choosing the Right Type

Tips

• Keep your Zoi's needs high before any work shift. A hungry or tired Zoi performs worse in both task completion and event choices.

• For active careers, the player must be present during the entire shift for promotion credit. Controlling another Zoi means zero career progress.

• Active careers are best for players who enjoy hands-on gameplay. Rabbit hole careers suit players who prefer other activities between shifts.

• You can switch careers at any time through the Smartphone Careers app. Switching resets your career bar to zero.

• Consider starting with an active career for faster early income, then switching to a higher-paying rabbit hole career once you have savings.

• Queue multiple task actions during active shifts to prevent idle gaps between tasks.
