Overview Expanded
The Young White-Striped Longhorn is the juvenile version of the White-Striped Longhorn cattle line. Calves are small, slow, and carry half the Health pool of their adult counterparts. They are not practical combat mounts; their role is the breeding and feeding cycle of the ranch economy on Howling Hill.
Type
Juvenile ox/cattle mount. Single-seat livestock mount. Treated as a breeding-stage animal by the ranch system, not as a taming target.

Half the Health of an adult cow and a reduced Evade (20 instead of 25) reflect the calf stage. Attack stays at 60 because the game uses the same attack animation across the line.
How to Obtain
Calves are produced by the ranch breeding cycle rather than bought. Register a male and female adult pair of the appropriate Dairy variant at the ranch and wait 5 to 10 days for a calf to spawn. Chicks, calves, and other baby animals only grow into their adult forms if you keep the feed bin inside the fence stocked.
Where to Find
Inside the fence at your camp ranch once the breeding pair has produced one. Wild calves also appear occasionally in the herds at Muckroot Ranch and other farm locations across Pywel.
Usage
Breeding throughput. Calves are the intermediate stage in the ranch economy. Feed them enough to mature them into adults, and they then become milk and butcher stock.
Low-value mount. Riding a calf is possible but impractical. They are slower than a horse, carry less Health than an adult cow, and lose stamina quickly.

Longhorn Drop for Refined Pills
Skinning antlered deer (short or long horn, either works) drops a "Longhorn" crafting material that doubles as the fastest substitute in the Refined Palmar Pill recipe. The same deer line includes the juvenile Young White-Striped Longhorn as part of the ranch breeding cycle, and the adult variants are the main source of the Longhorn drop used in the refined pill. Players hunting the adults for horns are often the same ones who later register a breeding pair and start getting calves at the ranch.
Fast-Travel Reset Loop
Fast travel to the point west of Scholar Stone Institute. This fast-travel marker has a high deer spawn density and the herd often spawns next to the player on arrival.
Equip the Disguise Cloak to keep the herd from fleeing. The cloak is not required but it removes the approach and chase phases entirely.
Target only the antlered deer. Antlerless deer will not drop longhorns, and leaving them alive keeps the pack spawn healthy for the next loop.
Use a Poison Arrow or equivalent for a clean one-shot. Skin each kill to pull the longhorn drop.
Open the map and fast travel back to the same point. There is no loading screen on re-warp, and the herd respawns immediately.
Two complete loops usually yield enough longhorns for a sizable stack of refined pills. If a given loop spawns no antlered deer (they are a random spawn within the pack), just warp again rather than waiting for a respawn.
