Overview

The Giant Green Iguana is a large rideable reptile in Crimson Desert. Classified as a Ground type mount, this oversized lizard is one of the more unusual creatures you can ride. Wild Giant Green Iguanas stand pre-saddled in a desert city in the northeast, where they belong to the locals. They are not freely rideable like a roaming animal: you have to steal one and then earn its Trust before it will register as your own. Once tamed it becomes a permanent Special Mount you can summon at will, and it can spit a ranged stream of acid that deals damage over time to enemies.
The Giant Green Iguana is a slow mover compared to a horse, so it is not the pick for fast travel, but it is far from a pure novelty. Its acid spit gives it a genuine ranged attack, and because it can be claimed as a personal Special Mount it can be summoned anywhere once tamed, unlike the temporary animals you can only ride until they despawn.
Base Stats
At Level 1, the Giant Green Iguana has the following base stats:
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
400 | |
300 | |
Attack | 25 |
Evade | 50 |

Climb Speed Multiplier | 1 |
Swim Speed Multiplier | 1 |

Despite sharing the same stat block as more useful mounts like the Red-Feathered Raptor, the Giant Green Iguana's slow movement speed makes it far less practical for combat or fast travel. The stats exist primarily for passive durability while riding.
How to Obtain
Giant Green Iguanas are found resting in a desert city in the northeast, where they already belong to the locals. You cannot just walk up and keep one: you have to steal it under a disguise, ride clear of the city's wanted zone, and then earn its Trust by feeding it before it counts as yours. The full route is covered in the Taming and Location section below.
The reward for that effort is a permanent Special Mount rather than a creature you can only ride until it wanders off. Once registered it can be summoned anywhere, and its acid spit makes it useful in a fight as well as for getting around.
Riding Behavior
While mounted, the Giant Green Iguana moves at a leisurely pace. It is noticeably slower than horses and most other mounts. The rider can still use weapons from its back, but the iguana itself has no attack commands.
The iguana is generally docile after dismounting as well. Unlike predator mounts that become hostile when you get off, the iguana simply remains in place. Whether you can remount it depends on whether it has despawned.
Taming and Location
Giant Green Iguanas are found in a desert city in the northeast of Pywel, out in the desert reached by heading northeast from Hernand. Several of them stand resting just outside the city's fighting arena, the same arena whose quest chain rewards a pair of lightning-channeling unarmed gloves. The fast travel point on the upper-left side of the city puts you closest to them.
Stealing the Iguana
These iguanas already belong to the city, so taking one counts as theft. Equip a mask first to hide your identity, then walk up to a resting iguana and mount it. A red ring marks the wanted zone around the city. Ride out of that ring as quickly as you can so the theft does not stick a bounty on you. Once you are clear of the ring you can stop and begin taming it.
Raising Trust With Food
The Giant Green Iguana is a herbivore, so it is tamed with raw vegetables rather than meat. While mounted, open your inventory, highlight a vegetable, and choose Feed to raise its Trust. When Trust reaches 100, a Take In prompt appears in the lower right; press it (Triangle on a controller) to register the iguana as your own. After that it lives in your Special Mounts list and can be summoned like a horse. The table below lists confirmed feed options and how much Trust each one gives per feeding.
Food | Trust Gained | Notes |
|---|---|---|
About +40 | One of the most efficient feeds; roughly three of these reach full Trust. | |
Smaller amount | Works as a backup herbivore feed when turnips are short. | |
Other raw vegetables | Varies | Sweet potatoes, asparagus, and similar produce all raise Trust by a little. |
If you need feed in bulk, vegetables can be gathered out in the world or produced through repeatable farm dispatch missions, so it is easy to stockpile enough to tame an iguana on the spot.
Saddle
Because wild Giant Green Iguanas are already saddled, a tamed one comes with its own Giant Iguana Saddle, so you do not need to buy one to ride it. If you ever lose it, the saddlery on the eastern side of the same city sells the Giant Iguana Saddle, which fits both the green and red iguana variants.
Community Speculation
The iguana is registered as a full mount type in the game's systems, complete with the cooldown timers used by permanent summonable mounts. Early on, before the taming route was widely known, this led players to assume a permanent iguana might only arrive in a later update. In practice the Giant Green Iguana can already be claimed as a permanent Special Mount by stealing and taming one, as described in the Taming and Location section above.
Interestingly, the Iguana Rider Leather Boots and Iguana Rider's Plate Armor items in the game suggest that iguana riding is an established practice within the world's lore, further fueling speculation about expanded iguana mount features.
