The Saluki is a dog breed that can be registered as a pet in Crimson Desert. The Saluki is a slender, graceful sighthound known for its elegant build and flowing movement. Like all pets, the Saluki can be found roaming settlements across Pywel, particularly in larger cities. These animals appear in different locations depending on the time of day.
The Saluki has a narrow, aerodynamic frame with long legs built for speed. Its deep chest, tucked waist, and feathered ears and tail give it a distinctive, elegant silhouette. Among the dog breeds available in Crimson Desert, the Saluki stands out for its refined, aristocratic appearance.
The Saluki comes in seven distinct coat variants. Each variant is purely cosmetic and does not affect the pet's stats or behavior.

To register a Saluki as your companion, you must reach 100 trust with the animal. Trust is built through two main interactions: petting and feeding.
Trust is built through two interactions: petting and feeding.
Petting: +5 trust per interaction, up to 5 times per in-game day (25 trust maximum from petting per day).
Feeding: Up to 3 feeds per in-game day. The trust gained depends on the food item (see the Trust Items table below).
Daily limits for petting and feeding reset at midnight (12:00 AM) in-game time. With optimal feeding using Fine Meat (+35 each), a Saluki can be fully registered in a single in-game day: 3 Fine Meat feedings (105 trust) already exceed the 100 trust threshold. Once trust reaches 100, set the animal down and hold Square (PlayStation) or E (PC) to select the "Take in" prompt. For a full breakdown of the taming process, see the main Pets article.
The following table lists every item that can be fed to the Saluki and how much trust each one provides. Fine Meat is the Saluki's favorite food and grants the highest trust per feeding.
Tip: Craft the Companionship enchant on Abyss gear to increase trust gain speed with pets. The Solidarity enchant increases trust gain with all NPCs and animals.
The Saluki can be outfitted with pet-specific armor and cosmetic gear. Equipment is divided into two slots: a helm slot and an outfit slot.

Pet equipment can be purchased at shops in Pororin Forest Village and Demeniss. Plate variants provide better defensive stats, while cloth options are lighter and more affordable. Equipping your Saluki with armor reduces the chance of injury during combat encounters.
A dog companion can sometimes be acquired during city festivities tied to the main quest. The Fang Without a Master faction quest also features pet acquisition.
Once registered, the Saluki follows you while exploring Pywel. Pets assist in combat by automatically looting items from defeated enemies, saving time during extended fights and dungeon runs. Your pet is a permanent companion and will stay by your side throughout the game. Only one pet can be active at a time, but you can switch between registered pets through the Inventory menu.
Pets can sustain injuries during combat encounters. An injured pet cannot run and will move slowly until healed. Use Healing Force Palm to restore your pet's health. You can also equip pet-specific armor to increase their defensive stats and reduce the chance of injury. Pet equipment can be purchased at shops in Pororin Forest Village and Demeniss.
Multiple pets can be registered at once, up to a maximum of 30. All registered companions are managed through the Inventory menu, where you can switch your active pet or review their equipment and status. Collecting all 30 unique pets is required for a Life Challenge and the Natural Collector trophy.
