Pywel Wagon
November 2, 2026 at 06:51 AM
Update named wagon unlock and trading changes, separating sale rules, cargo transfers and quoted costs from unverified conversion limits.
The Pywel Wagon is a cargo transport vehicle in Crimson Desert used to haul trade goods between settlements and trading posts. Unlike rideable mounts that prioritize combat or exploration, the Pywel Wagon is a utility vehicle designed specifically for the trading system. Building a wagon requires significant progress in the Greymane Camp management system, including recruiting specific comrades.
Earlier transport advice described wagons as slow and vulnerable to bandits and called them the only way to move bulk goods. Patch 1.16.00 instead explicitly allows trade-good transfers between a wagon and horse and adds packaging and loading at wagon workshops. The earlier trading advice described substantial profit in silver; that is not a universal currency or profit guarantee for every route. A named trade-equipment record distinguishes black-market coins from packaged sales for Camp Funds.

Building a wagon requires several prerequisite steps involving the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill:
Set up camp on Howling Hill and progress the Greymane 'Grounds of the Sunrise' questline. The wagon walkthrough specifically unlocks dispatch through Bustling Hill under Chapter 3 Pioneering.
Complete the quest A Rumor at Glenbright Farm to recruit Brice, the Wagon Master to your camp.
The wagon walkthrough completes the first four Greymane Commissions before Brice's Request unlocks. The earlier around-Chapter-4 timing remains an estimate rather than the named prerequisite.
Head to the Timberturner Wainwright for Brice to scope out building a wagon.
If you do not already have an Engineering comrade, follow A Rumor in St. Halssius to recruit Arnold, whose Engineering skill can meet the wagon dispatch requirement. This is a recommended recruit when needed, not proof that Arnold is mandatory if another qualified comrade is already available.
Return to the Timberturner Wainwright on the map (northeast from camp), go to the mission list, and order your wagon.
Start the dispatch mission to craft the wagon and wait until it is completed.
The wagon walkthrough selects Old Wagon Production under Timberturner Wainwright and later uses Brice in camp to select and load a wagon. It quotes 120 Timber, 60 Food and 900 Silver for that dispatch with an Engineering comrade; the quote is not a newly checked current fee. Larger wagons use more workers, crafting time and resources in that guide. The older claim that the wagon appears at Brice's workshop is retained as earlier delivery guidance.
The following packaging steps retain earlier UI, contact-name and conversion quotes. The trading walkthrough instead names the Camp Provisioner Carl and Package Provisions; the old Karl name, exact 100-Fund fee, 1,000-resource ratio and P/L3 bindings are not newly established there:
Speak to the Provisions Keeper, Karl, in camp.
Enter the 'Camp Provisions' menu.
Earlier quote: package trade goods for 100 camp funds per package. The selected trading guide says packaging costs money without establishing that exact fee or currency.
Earlier resource-and-input quote: press P (L3 on controller) to turn every 1,000 camp resources into one packed trade good. That ratio and input mapping remain unverified by the selected trading guide.
Talk to Brice to place the packed trade goods inside the wagon.
Once loaded, use the trading-post information to plan a sale. The following two locations are earlier examples rather than a full current network: Patch 1.16.00 added trading posts and wagon workshops and a Trade map tab with routes, filters and market details.
Location | Details |
|---|---|
Earlier notes locate it east and impose a 25-stack minimum sale. Patch 1.16.00 explicitly permits selling even a single trade good, so that old minimum is not a blanket sale rule. Check the accepted items at the selected merchant; the change does not establish a one-unit purchase option or that every shop buys every item. | |
Located north of Hernand Castle. Accepts a wider variety of trade goods. |
Patch 1.16.00 adds horse-wagon cargo transfers, packaging and loading at wagon workshops, and a Trade map tab showing posts, workshops and wagon routes. It reports prices changing when too many goods are sold at one location and greater cargo losses when retrieving a horse or wagon or destroying the wagon. It also says wagons no longer disappear after royal-trading-post delivery. Plan accepted goods and current market details rather than assuming one permanent profit or risk-free retrieval rule.
Speed: Wagons are slow compared to horse mounts. Plan your trade routes carefully.
Vulnerability: Bandits will attack your wagon during transport. Be prepared to defend your cargo.
Capacity: Larger wagons hold more goods but take longer and cost more to craft.
Theft: You can also steal wagons from NPCs on the road, though this triggers the crime system.
Keep the versioned stack statements separate from current load limits. Patch 1.16.00 quoted packaged maxima of 10 or 100 and unpackaged inventory stacks of 5 or 50, depending on the goods. Patch 1.18.00 later fixes high-value goods stacking and loading up to 100 without giving a replacement cap in that passage. Neither note establishes one universal wagon slot count or a new trip-load formula. The same later update changes research from silver to Camp Funds, which does not by itself convert the older packaging, resource-ratio or wagon-production quotes.
The trading system can generate substantial silver income. Building a wagon early in Chapter 4 gives you a significant economic advantage.
Travel with weapons ready when driving the wagon. Bandit ambushes are common on trade routes.
Stolen wagons work the same as crafted ones for transporting goods, but stealing triggers bounties and fines.
Bigger wagons carry more goods per trip but are slower and harder to maneuver on narrow roads.
Prioritize recruiting Brice and Arnold as early as possible through the Greymane Commission system.
