Overview
Pursuit Beyond the Veil is the second quest of the Veiled Witch sub-chapter in Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert. Kliff tracks the Veiled Witch through the darkest regions of the Serpent Marsh, where the boundary between the physical world and The Abyss has worn dangerously thin. The environment itself becomes hostile, with Abyss rifts opening periodically and spawning enemies that must be dealt with while maintaining pursuit.

Follow the witch's trail deeper into the corrupted marsh
Survive three Abyss rift ambushes along the pursuit path
Close two Abyss rifts using Axiom Force
Corner the Veiled Witch at the Dead Hollow clearing
Walkthrough
The pursuit begins at the edge of the corrupted area marked by swirling purple energy. Follow the glowing trail left by the witch. She moves ahead of you in scripted sequences, so you cannot catch her until the final clearing.
At three points during the chase, Abyss rifts tear open and spawn waves of shadow enemies. These are mandatory combat encounters. The enemies are not individually strong, but they appear in groups of four to six. Use area-of-effect attacks and Force Palm to manage the groups quickly. After clearing each wave, the rift closes and you can continue the pursuit.
Two of the rifts require manual closure using Axiom Force. Approach the rift core (the glowing purple sphere) and hold the interact button to seal it. You must clear nearby enemies first, as taking damage interrupts the sealing animation.
At the Dead Hollow clearing, a cutscene triggers where the Veiled Witch stops and turns to face Kliff, setting up the next quest.
Tips
Keep your health topped off between rift encounters. The shadow enemies deal Abyss damage that can bypass some armor resistances.
Bring Grilled Meat and any Abyss-resistance consumables you have. The environmental corruption slowly drains health in the most corrupted areas.
The two Abyss rifts that require sealing have a channeling time of roughly five seconds. Make sure all enemies are down before starting the seal.
