Overview
Make Now is an instant cooking and crafting function added to Crimson Desert in Patch 1.01.00 on March 28, 2026. It allows players to immediately complete a cooking or crafting recipe without waiting through the standard preparation animation. Before this feature was introduced, players had to watch their character perform the full cooking or crafting animation for every single item produced. While the animations added flavor to the first few crafting sessions, they became tedious when producing large quantities of food or materials. Make Now was Pearl Abyss's direct response to widespread community feedback requesting a faster crafting workflow.
How It Works
When interacting with a cooking pot, blacksmith anvil, or any other crafting station, the player selects a recipe and sets the desired quantity to produce. Instead of pressing the standard craft button (which triggers the full preparation animation), the player can choose the Make Now option. This instantly produces all of the selected items in a single action, skipping every frame of the animation sequence. The required materials are consumed as normal, and the finished items appear in the player's inventory immediately.
The Make Now button appears alongside the standard craft button in the crafting interface. There is no cooldown, no additional cost, and no limitation on how many times it can be used in a row. Players can freely alternate between the animated crafting method and Make Now depending on their preference.
When It Is Useful
Make Now provides the greatest benefit in situations where players need to produce items in bulk. The most common use cases include:
Bulk cooking food: Food is the only healing method in Crimson Desert, so players consume large quantities of cooked meals during combat and exploration. Preparing 30 or 40 meals one animation at a time could take several minutes. Make Now reduces this to a single button press. See the cooking article for more details on food recipes.
Batch crafting ammunition: Ranged builds rely on a steady supply of arrows and bolts. Producing a full stock of ammunition required sitting through the same animation dozens of times before Make Now was added.
Producing equipment at a blacksmith: Players working through equipment refinement often need to craft multiple pieces of gear in a single session, whether for personal use or to break down for upgrade materials.
Endgame preparation: In the endgame, players frequently need dozens of food items and consumables before tackling difficult boss encounters or long combat sessions. Make Now dramatically reduces the time spent at crafting stations during these preparation phases.
Availability and Requirements
Make Now requires Patch 1.01.00 or later. It does not require any in-game unlock, quest completion, or skill point investment. The feature is available at every crafting station in the game from the moment the player first gains access to crafting. This includes cooking pots at Greymane Camp, blacksmith stations at settlements, and any other crafting interface found throughout the world of Pywel.
Context and Community Reception
At launch on March 20, 2026, Crimson Desert's crafting system required players to watch the full animation for every item produced. While many players appreciated the visual detail of the animations during their first few crafting sessions, the lack of a skip option became a common frustration within the first week. Community forums and social media were filled with requests for an instant crafting option, particularly from players who relied heavily on cooking to keep their food supplies stocked.
Pearl Abyss addressed this feedback quickly. Make Now arrived in Patch 1.01.00 just eight days after the game's worldwide release, making it one of the fastest quality-of-life responses in the game's post-launch history. The feature was universally praised by the community, and it remains one of the most cited examples of Pearl Abyss listening to player feedback.
