Logging trees is one of the core gathering activities in Crimson Desert. Chopping trees yields Timber and Fine Timber, both essential for crafting weapons, armor, and camp upgrades.
You need a Logging Axe to harvest trees. You can purchase one for 29 copper coins from the Provisioner's Shop in Hernand. Alternatively, the blacksmith Turnali gives you one for free as part of his introductory request quest.
1. Equip the Logging Axe: Open your inventory or quick menu (hold Left D-Pad on controller or T on keyboard) and equip the Logging Axe under the Armed Combat tab.
2. Fell the tree: Aim at a tree until a blue ring appears on its surface, then press the light attack button to swing horizontally. Step aside as the tree falls to avoid taking damage.
3. Process the trunk: Approach the fallen trunk, aim again, and press the heavy attack button to swing vertically. This splits the trunk into a log.
4. Harvest: Chop the remaining log one more time with any attack to collect your materials.
The Turning Slash skill can also fell trees. Charge it up while standing in front of a tree, and it will topple. You can keep using Turning Slash on the fallen trunk until materials drop, or switch to the Logging Axe to finish processing.
Each tree typically yields 3 to 6 Timber and 1 to 3 Fine Timber. Logging Axes have limited durability and will eventually break, so keep a spare in your inventory or buy replacements from vendors.
