Overview
Rosemary and Peonies are two of the most common herbs in Crimson Desert. Both fall under the Medicinal Herbs category of gatherables and are used primarily as ingredients for alchemy recipes. They grow in abundance across the Hernand region and surrounding woodlands, making them some of the easiest herbs to stockpile early in the game.
Their most important use is crafting Palmar Pills, the emergency revival item that lets you respawn at 30% health after dying in combat. Since each batch of Palmar Pills requires 15 herbs, you will burn through your supply fast if you rely on them for tough encounters. This guide covers the best spots to farm Rosemary and Peonies, what other recipes call for them, and how to keep a steady supply without going out of your way.
What Rosemary and Peonies Are Used For
Palmar Pills
Palmar Pills are the primary reason most players farm Rosemary and Peonies. The recipe requires 2x Water and 15x Medicinal Herbs. Any plant or flower classified as a Medicinal Herb satisfies the ingredient requirement, and both Rosemary and Peonies qualify. Because they grow in dense patches, they are the fastest herbs to collect in bulk for this recipe.
The Palmar Pill recipe is found inside Shadow's Whisper Cave, located northwest of Hernand on the west shoreline of Three Saints' Falls. Enter through the narrow crack in the cliff face, read the alchemy formula on the table, and you will also gain access to your first cauldron for brewing. After learning the recipe, you can craft Palmar Pills at any cauldron in the world.
Alchemy Materials
Beyond Palmar Pills, Rosemary and Peonies function as general-purpose Alchemy Materials. When used as secondary ingredients in advanced potion recipes, they contribute stat-boosting properties that differ from their primary medicinal effect. This dual-use system means that even after you have enough Palmar Pills, these herbs remain useful for crafting more specialized elixirs later in the game.
Dye Crafting
Certain flowers, including Peonies, can be processed into pigments for the dye system. If you plan to customize the color of your armor or equipment, holding onto extra Peonies is worthwhile.

Where to Find Rosemary
Rosemary grows in the woodlands around Hernand, particularly in the forests to the north of the city. It appears as small green shrubs that glow with the standard gatherable highlight when you get close. The herb spawns in clusters, so once you find one bush, look around for more nearby.

Best Farming Routes
Route 1: Northern Hernand Woodlands Loop
Start at the northern gate of Hernand and follow the main trail into the forest. Both Rosemary and Shrubby Sophora grow along this path. Sweep left and right of the road, collecting everything in sight. When the trail forks, take the right path toward the hilltop, then loop back down to the main road. A single circuit takes roughly five minutes and typically yields 20 to 30 herbs, enough for one or two batches of Palmar Pills.
Route 2: Southern Hernand Fields
Head south from Hernand toward Muckroot Ranch. The open fields in this area contain Peonies, Lavender, and Marigolds. Because the terrain is flat and open, you can spot gatherable nodes from a distance and move between them quickly. This route is especially efficient if you also need Lavender for alchemy.
Route 3: Witchwoods (Red Croton Alternative)
If you need a large quantity of herbs in a single run and do not specifically need Rosemary or Peonies, head to the Witch's house in the Witchwoods (west of Hernand). A massive field of Red Croton grows here, and Red Croton also counts as a valid Palmar Pill ingredient. This spot yields the highest volume of herbs in one area but requires more travel time from Hernand.
Tips for Efficient Gathering
Gather in excess. Whenever you pass through an area with herbs, pick everything you see. Palmar Pills consume 15 herbs per batch, and you will want several batches before tackling a difficult boss encounter.
Do not fast travel past herbs. If you are riding your horse between objectives and spot a cluster of flowers, stop and collect them. The five seconds spent gathering saves you a dedicated farming trip later.
Buy Water from the vegetable merchant in Hernand. Water is the other ingredient for Palmar Pills and is sold cheaply by the vendor in Hernand. Stock up so you are never bottlenecked on Water when you have plenty of herbs.
Check bandit camps and waterfall caves. Pre-made Palmar Pills occasionally appear as loot in bandit camps and in small caves near rivers. Grabbing these free pills supplements your crafted supply.
Use the Interactive Map. The in-game map and community interactive maps (such as the one on Fextralife) allow you to filter for Mushrooms and Herbs gathering nodes. Toggle the filter on to see where clusters spawn across the entire map.
Collect other herbs too. Rosemary and Peonies are interchangeable with 21 other ingredients in the Palmar Pill recipe. If you happen to find a patch of Begonias or Lavender first, grab those instead. Any Medicinal Herb works.
Prioritize before boss fights. Before entering a boss arena, make sure you have at least 3 to 5 Palmar Pills in your inventory. Craft a batch at the nearest cauldron if your supply is running low.
