The Emberstep Leather Boots are a unique pair of footwear in Crimson Desert. Despite carrying a different name from the rest of the Scorchflame Plate armor pieces, these boots share the same visual design language and are widely considered the footwear component of the Scorchflame Plate set. They are found inside the Cascade Grotto, a cave hidden behind a waterfall in the Demeniss region.
The boots' in-game description references the Flame Knight, tying them thematically to the other Scorchflame Plate pieces. Players looking to complete the full Scorchflame Plate look should seek out the Cascade Grotto after collecting the Scorchflame Plate Gloves from the nearby Twilight Grotto and the Scorchflame Plate Cloak from the Silent Falls Hideout.

The Emberstep Leather Boots are found inside the Cascade Grotto, a cave concealed behind a waterfall in the Demeniss area. The Cascade Grotto is located a short distance southeast of the Twilight Grotto, where the Scorchflame Plate Gloves are found. To reach the boots, follow these steps:
Travel to the Demeniss region and locate the waterfall near the Twilight Grotto.
Head southeast from the Twilight Grotto. You will find another waterfall a short distance away.
Use the Stab skill (Y+RB on controller) to pass through the cascading water without being knocked back. This enters the Cascade Grotto.
Inside the grotto, locate the treasure chest containing the Emberstep Leather Boots.
The Cascade Grotto does not contain any enemies or environmental hazards, so the boots can be collected freely once you enter the cave.
Although the Emberstep Leather Boots do not carry the "Scorchflame Plate" prefix in their name, they are thematically and visually part of the same armor set. The boots share the scorched, battle-worn aesthetic of the other Scorchflame pieces, and their description directly references the Flame Knight, the same figure associated with the Scorchflame Plate Cloak and Scorchflame Plate Gloves.
The known pieces that form the Scorchflame Plate set are:
Piece | Item Name | Location |
|---|---|---|
Cloak | ||
Gloves | ||
Footwear | Emberstep Leather Boots | Cascade Grotto, Demeniss |
The naming inconsistency is notable. While the cloak and gloves both use the "Scorchflame Plate" prefix, the boots have their own distinct name. This has led to some confusion among players, but the shared Flame Knight lore, matching visual style, and geographic proximity of the find locations confirm the connection.
The Emberstep Leather Boots reference the Flame Knight in their item description. The Flame Knight, also known as Tristan, was a legendary warrior whose equipment was scattered across Pywel. The Scorchflame Plate Cloak describes Tristan's shoulder armor as "crafted in the likeness of a dragon's head and wings" with a hem that bears "the memory of fierce battles" and still emanates lingering heat. The Emberstep Leather Boots continue this theme, suggesting boots forged or tempered through intense flame, with the "Emberstep" name evoking the image of walking through fire.
Collect the Emberstep Leather Boots on the same trip as the Scorchflame Plate Gloves. Both grottos are in the Demeniss region within walking distance of each other.
Use the Stab skill to pass through waterfalls. Without it, the water current will push you back and you cannot enter the Cascade Grotto.
If you are collecting the full Scorchflame set, visit the Silent Falls Hideout for the cloak as well. That location requires defeating the Gravewalker boss and using Force Punch to break through a trap door.
