Overview
The Greymanes had the traitor Ludvig in their grasp, but he managed to escape while Duane was interrogating him. Kliff pursues him into the upper levels of the Pailune fortress. This quest contains one of Chapter 7's most difficult encounters: a two-phase boss fight against Ludvig, who uses lightning-based attacks and teleportation.
Walkthrough
Defeat Ludvig
Navigate through the fortress and ascend the stairs into the building where the boss encounter takes place.
Boss Fight: Ludvig
Ludvig fights with lightning-infused attacks and teleports frequently around the arena. The battle has two distinct phases, each with its own health bar.
Phase 1: Ludvig
Ludvig opens with lightning-element melee combos and mid-range electrical blasts.
He teleports after every two to three attack sequences. You cannot hit him during the teleport animation.
Strategy: Focus on evasion rather than blocking or parrying. Lightning attacks have lingering hitboxes that punish stationary defense. Wait for him to finish a combo or emerge from a teleport, then land a quick three-to-four hit combination before rolling away.
Phase 2: Awakened Ludvig
Ludvig transforms into his Awakened state with a new health bar. His aggression increases dramatically.
Attacks and teleportation are nearly constant, leaving very few openings for offense.
Strategy: Stay mobile. Dodge through his combos rather than away from them, because he chains into follow-up attacks that catch backward dodges. Land light attack combos during the brief pauses between his attack strings. Heal between dodges; do not try to heal when standing still.

Tips
This is the harder of the two Ludvig fights in Chapter 7. The encounter later in Time to Face Justice (played as Oongka) is easier by comparison. Save your best supplies for this one.
Dodge forward or forward-right through Ludvig's lightning strikes. Rolling backward puts you in the path of his follow-up attacks.
If you are struggling, leave the fortress before triggering the fight and farm additional Grilled Meat from the animals in the Beighen forest.
