Quest Details

Overview

Torstein and the Blue Fangs have been operating out of Beighen, preparing to retake Pailune. This quest introduces the eavesdropping mechanic and requires Kliff to gather information from villagers, then bluff his way past a guard using a series of lie dialogue options. It is one of the more involved investigation quests in Chapter 7, with no combat but several steps that must be completed in the correct order.

Walkthrough

Eavesdrop on Beighen Villagers

Travel to the quest marker on the eastern edge of Beighen. Behind a red hut, you receive a tutorial on the eavesdropping mechanic.

How eavesdropping works: You must lean against an outer wall by pressing L3, then hold L1/LB to listen. The key detail is that you need to position yourself against a solid wall without windows. Looking through windows does not work. Stand outside against the barn wall and wait for the "Learning in Progress" indicator to fill completely.

Find a Way to Contact the Secret Organization

Go to the west side of the village and speak with the guard standing at a door. A dialogue tree opens with multiple topics. Choose the lie responses when they become available:

• Topic: Underground Storage. Select the truth option.

• Topic: Secret Society's Base. Select "Lie."

• Topic: Mysterious Faction. Select "Lie: Beighen Tribe."

If you lack the required information for certain topics, exit the conversation. New objectives will appear on your map pointing you to additional eavesdropping locations.

Find a Clue About the Mysterious Faction

A new marker appears in the village center. Enter the empty shop or house at the marked location. Lean against the interior wall (L3) and eavesdrop on someone speaking outside. Once the information is gathered, return to the guard and continue the dialogue:

• Mysterious Faction within Beighen

• Select "Lie: Black Bears"

• Leader of the Blue Fangs

• Select "Lie: Jian"

Find a Clue About the Blue Fangs Leader

Another marker appears on a nearby red hut. Lean against its exterior wall to eavesdrop on the conversation inside. Return to the guard one final time and select:

• Leader of the Blue Fangs

• Select "Lie: Torstein"

Contact the Secret Organization

With all the information gathered, the guard allows you through. Proceed past the guards to the left. On the ground, you will find a trapdoor. Open it and climb down to trigger the ending cutscene that introduces you to the Blue Fangs underground resistance.

Below is the complete sequence of lie choices needed to progress through the guard's interrogation.

Tips

• The eavesdropping mechanic requires wall-leaning (L3), not looking through windows. This catches many players off guard. Position Kliff flush against a solid exterior wall.

• If you select wrong dialogue options, you can exit and re-enter the conversation. The game does not lock you out permanently.

• There is no combat in this quest. It is entirely investigation and dialogue.
