Stat Scaling
Extended Reach is a damage modifier that sits on top of weapon damage, so it benefits from the same gear and stat investment that drives the weapon underneath it. The Musket and Pistol both scale with Precision, so a Precision-stacked Musketeer sees the percentage bonus applied to an already-high base shot. The talent does not change the weapon's effective range or accuracy, only the damage dealt at the distance the shot connects.
Choice Node
Extended Reach is a choice-node talent. It is paired with Muzzle Reach at the same planner position. Investing any points here locks out the paired talent until a respec.

Build Role
Extended Reach is the Musket specialist pick. The per-10m scaling is uncapped, so a Musketeer sniping at 30-50m gets a noticeable damage bonus that pays off more the longer the engagement range.
Range and Engagement
The talent rewards holding distance. Open an engagement at the longest range you can still hit reliably, and the bonus is already working before the enemy closes. On open biomes such as the Foothills and Ashlands, sightlines are long enough to keep most shots in the +9% to +15% band. In tight interiors the bonus shrinks toward +3%, which is where the paired Muzzle Reach would out-perform it. If your group fights mostly in cramped camps and ship interiors, respec at a Bonfire toward the close-range node instead.
Math Example
A Musket shot at 40m with rank 3 Extended Reach (+3% per 10m) gains +12% damage. On a Musket dealing 580 Pierce, that is 650 Pierce per shot. At 100m range, the bonus is +30%, bringing the shot to 754 Pierce.
Notes
Mutually exclusive with Muzzle Reach. Committing to Extended Reach locks Muzzle Reach out until you respec at a Bonfire.
Pairs with Sniper's Focus: a fully-aimed 8-second Musket shot at 40m with rank 3 Extended Reach + rank 3 Sniper's Focus stacks +12% (range) and +28% (focus) for +40% bonus damage before Bull's Eye headshot adds another +20%.
