Corn
Overview
Corn is a grain crop in Starsand Island described in-game as "a delicious and nutritious grain crop, as well as an important industrial raw material." It becomes available once you earn the Intermediate Farmer certification from Graminova. Corn grows during Summer and Autumn, takes 4 days and 12 hours to mature, and produces 4 ears per harvest.

Among Intermediate tier crops, Corn stands out as the most profitable option per day when measured by raw sell value. Its two-season availability and solid gold-per-day returns make it a reliable income source throughout the warmer months. Corn is also a versatile ingredient in several high-value cooking recipes and can be processed into juice at the Juicer.

How to Obtain Seeds
Corn Seeds are purchased from the Happiness Seed Shop for 250g each after you reach the Intermediate Farmer tier. The shop stocks up to 20 Corn Seeds per refresh cycle. Seeds are available year-round regardless of the current season, so you can stockpile them during Spring or Winter in preparation for planting.
You can also produce your own Corn Seeds using the Grinder, which converts 2 Corn into 1 Corn Seeds packet. The Grinder unlocks at the Senior Farmer tier and is an effective way to cut seed costs once you reach that level.
Growing Corn
Corn grows on regular tilled farmland, in paddy fields, or in planting pots. It does not require a trellis or any other specialized structure. To plant Corn, till a plot of soil with your Hoe, select Corn Seeds from your inventory, and place them on the tilled tile.
Once planted, Corn takes 4 days and 12 hours (4.5 real-time days) to fully mature. You need to water it daily using your Watering Can, or set up sprinklers to automate the process. Corn grows only during Summer and Autumn. If you plant it too late in Autumn and the season changes to Winter before it matures, the crop will wither and be lost.
Corn is a single-harvest crop. After you pick the 4 ears of corn, the plant is consumed and you must replant from seed. This differs from trellis crops like Cherry Tomato that regrow after harvest.
Tip: Time your planting so that the full 4.5-day growth cycle completes before the season ends. The last safe planting day in Autumn depends on how many days remain in the season.
Tip: Use Yield Fertilizer from the Fertilizer system to boost harvest quantity beyond the base yield of 4.
Quality and Sell Prices
The base sell price for Corn is 170g per ear. Since each harvest produces 4 ears, a single harvest sells for 680g at base quality. Higher-quality Corn sells for more. Quality is influenced by the fertilizer you use and random chance during growth.
You can sell Corn at Zerine's General Store at the prices listed below. For even higher returns, sell to the Merchant Ship when it docks at Starsand Port every Monday, as it pays 200% of the normal sell price for all items.
Selling Method | Price per Ear | Revenue per Harvest (x4) |
|---|---|---|
Base Quality (Zerine's Store) | 170g | 680g |
Merchant Ship (2x price) | 340g | 1,360g |
Processing Corn into cooked dishes or drinks further increases its total value. See the Recipes section below for the best options.
Recipes Using Corn
Corn is an ingredient in three cooking recipes and one juicer recipe. Processing Corn into dishes increases its effective value significantly compared to selling it raw.
Cooking Recipes
Recipe | Ingredients | Cook Time | Sell Value | Source | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
100s | +139 | 414g | Dishpedia | ||
1x Corn, 5x Flour | 61s | +104 | 242g | ||
2x Egg, 4x Rice, 2x Corn, 3x Meat Bites | 148s | +192 | 744g |
Yangzhou Fried Rice is the standout recipe for Corn. With a sell value of 744g, it is the strongest recovery food available in the game and commands a premium price. If you sell it to the Merchant Ship at 200%, each plate fetches 1,488g. The recipe does require multiple expensive ingredients (Eggs, Rice, Meat Bites), so factor in the total cost when calculating profit.
Juicer Recipe
Recipe | Ingredients | Process Time | Sell Value | Buff | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
12x Wheat, 1x Corn | 99s | +136 | 400g | Double Loot |
Suncloud Sip is notable for granting the Double Loot buff, which doubles item drops from foraging and monster kills. This makes it valuable beyond its sell price, particularly when exploring the Moonlit Forest or grinding resources.
Processing Options
Beyond cooking, Corn can be processed through the Grinder to recover seeds:
Machine | Input | Output | Unlocked At |
|---|---|---|---|
2x Corn | 1x Corn Seeds | Senior Farmer |
Using the Grinder to produce your own seeds eliminates the 250g seed cost on subsequent plantings. Once you reach Senior Farmer, setting aside 2 ears from each harvest for the Grinder means you effectively replant for free. This boosts the profit per harvest from 430g to 680g, and gold per day from 95.6 to approximately 151.1 g/day.
Profitability Analysis
Corn is the highest gold-per-day crop in the Intermediate Farmer tier. The calculation below uses base sell prices and purchased seeds. For a full comparison across all tiers, see the Crop Profitability Rankings article.
Metric | Value |
|---|---|
Seed Cost | 230g |
Sell Price per Ear | 170g |
Yield | 4 ears |
Revenue per Harvest | 680g (170 x 4) |
Profit per Harvest | 450g (680 - 250) |
Growth Time | 4.5 days |
Gold per Day | 95.6 g/day |
Comparison With Other Intermediate Crops
Crop | Seed Cost | Sell Price | Growth Time | Profit/Harvest | Gold/Day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Corn | 230g | 170g | 4d 12h | 450g | 95.6 g/day |
210g | 153g | 4d 6h | 402g | 94.6 g/day | |
210g | 165g | 5 days | 450g | 90.0 g/day | |
210g | 139g | 3d 6h | 624g (3 harvests) | 27.4 g/day |
Corn leads the Intermediate tier at 95.6 gold per day, edging out Blueberry (94.6 g/day) and Strawberry (90.0 g/day). Its two-season availability across Summer and Autumn gives it a longer growing window than the Summer-only Blueberry. Strawberry covers Spring and Winter, making it the go-to crop during seasons when Corn cannot grow.
With Grinder Seeds (Senior Farmer)
At the Senior Farmer tier, the Grinder lets you produce Corn Seeds from 2 harvested ears instead of buying them. This eliminates the 250g seed cost. You sacrifice 2 ears (340g worth) to produce the next seed, but save the 230g purchase price, netting a 110g advantage per cycle. With Grinder seeds:
Revenue: 680g (sell remaining 4 ears from a yield-4 harvest, or 2 ears plus seed production from a larger yield)
Effective cost: 2 ears worth of Corn (340g opportunity cost)
Effective profit: 680g total harvest minus 340g sacrificed = 340g if replanting all 4 from one harvest
However, if Yield Fertilizer boosts your harvest beyond 4, you keep 100% of the bonus ears as pure profit.
Merchant Ship Sales
The Merchant Ship pays 200% of normal sell price. A single Corn harvest sold to the Merchant Ship yields 1,360g (340g x 4) instead of 680g. After subtracting the 250g seed cost, that is 1,110g profit per harvest, or roughly 246.7 g/day. Timing your harvests to align with the ship's Monday visits can dramatically boost income.
Everlasting Corn Seeds
Like all crops in Starsand Island, Corn has an everlasting seed variant. Everlasting Corn Seeds produce a plant that regrows after every harvest without needing to replant. This eliminates both the seed cost and the time spent tilling and planting, turning Corn into a passive income source.
There is also a rarer Immortal variant. Immortal Corn Seeds ignore seasonal restrictions entirely, letting you grow Corn year-round in any season, including Spring and Winter.
Methods for obtaining everlasting and immortal seeds include:
Mirthshroom Soup: Eating this soup grants the Creamy Seeds buff. While active, harvesting any crop has a chance to drop everlasting or immortal seeds. Stacking 5 soups maximizes the drop rate.
Eternal Blessings: A Workpedia skill available at the Senior Farmer tier. Provides a permanent passive chance to receive everlasting crops when harvesting. Can be upgraded with Starsand Points.
Treasure Chests: Found on the surface island and in the Moonlit Forest. Some chests contain everlasting or immortal seeds.
Islandpedia Rewards: Completing certain Islandpedia milestones rewards everlasting seeds.
If you dig up an everlasting or immortal crop with a pickaxe, the seed is refunded to your inventory. You never lose it, which lets you freely relocate crops as your farm layout changes.
Gifting
Corn makes a solid gift for several NPCs. The following preferences have been confirmed:
Preference | NPCs |
|---|---|
Loved | |
Liked | Most other villagers |
Neutral | Dog, Panda |
Disliked | Cat, Ferret |
Since Graminova loves Corn, gifting her a few ears is a convenient way to build friendship while visiting the Happiness Seed Shop to buy more seeds.
Tips
Corn's 4.5-day growth time means you can fit roughly 6 harvests across a combined Summer and Autumn window (assuming each season lasts about 14 days). Plan your plantings to avoid wasting the tail end of Autumn.
If you are saving Corn for Yangzhou Fried Rice, remember that each plate requires 2 ears. A single harvest of 4 ears produces enough for 2 plates.
Suncloud Sip's Double Loot buff is extremely useful before exploring. Keep a small Corn reserve specifically for brewing this drink at the Juicer.
At the Intermediate tier, Corn is your best gold-per-day option. Once you reach Senior Farmer and unlock the Grinder, seed costs drop to zero, making it even more profitable.
Selling to the Merchant Ship on Monday at 200% price is the single biggest profit multiplier. Stockpile Corn in a chest and sell the entire batch when the ship arrives.
Consider using sprinklers on your Corn fields. Since Corn takes 4.5 days to grow, automating the watering saves significant daily effort over multiple growth cycles.
