Phantom Blade Zero has a substantial cast of confirmed bosses, each with their own multi-phase fight design and mechanics. The list below covers the bosses the studio has publicly shown ahead of the September 9, 2026 launch.

Encounter Design
Boss fights are dynamic, multi-phase, and central to the studio's pre-release marketing. Most public footage at major showcases has prominently featured these encounters. A 'Seven Star Sword Formation' demo level was used to bundle several boss battles for the same play session, and the gamescom Latam 2026 demo offered a three-boss public hands-on.
Hellwalker Mode AI
On the hardest difficulty, Hellwalker Mode, boss AI is upgraded to analyse the current fight context and adapt. Huangxing is the specific case the studio has publicly described: his Hellwalker form uses a state-driven decision loop that bases its next move on the result of his last attack, making the fight closer to a PvP duel than to a scripted enemy script. The studio has indicated most humanoid bosses use a similar approach on Hellwalker.
Checkpoint Behaviour
When the player dies to a boss, the fight does not always restart from the beginning. If the player reached phase 2, they restart from phase 2. This applies across all difficulty levels, including Hellwalker. See Difficulty and Progression for the full ruleset, including the per-difficulty parry window detail.
Scope Note
This index covers bosses confirmed in the playable Phantom Blade Zero build. Bosses from the 2022 mobile predecessor or earlier studio projects are not listed here unless the current game has shipped them as their own encounter.
