Dread Axe is a Destructive Phantom Edge in Phantom Blade Zero. It charges heavy cleaves and can break iron chains that obstruct exploration, even when it is not equipped.

How to get Dread Axe
Defeat Peng Meng in Weeping Creek Valley during Against the Flow to obtain Dread Axe.
Charged attacks
Skill | Input and effect |

Active Ability | Hold R2 to charge through up to two stages, then release for a cleave. A higher charge stage deals more damage. The attack costs 1 Remnant Spark. |
Full-Power Charge | Double-tap R2 to spend 1 additional Remnant Spark and immediately perform a fully charged attack. |
Armored Resilience | Reduces damage taken while charging. |
Rushing Axe | Press R2 after dodging while sprinting to charge while running. |
Crushing Force | Release a fully charged attack while running for a stronger leaping cleave. |
Rapid Charge | Increases charge speed by 30%. |
Breaking iron chains
Iron Chain Breaker allows Soul to break iron chains blocking a route once Dread Axe has been obtained. The exploration action remains available when the axe is not in an equipped Phantom Edge slot. This differs from its regular combat attack, which has its own Remnant Spark cost.
