Overview
Adoption is a planned feature for inZOI that will let households add children without pregnancy. The feature was originally planned for implementation in May 2025 but has not yet been released as of February 2026. When added, adoption will give single Zois, same-sex couples, and households that do not want to go through the pregnancy process an alternative path to building a family.
Planned implementation
Based on community discussion and developer hints, the adoption system is expected to work through the smartphone or computer interface, similar to how other services are accessed in the game. The exact mechanics (cost, requirements, available age ranges for adopted children, and waiting periods) have not been officially detailed.
The 2026 Roadmap does not specifically mention adoption in its quarterly breakdown, but it does include expanded family interactions, improved NPC and daily life systems with focus on children and babies, and per-family story progression with adjustable intensity. Adoption may be included in one of these broader family system improvements.
Current alternatives
Until adoption is implemented, the primary way to add children to a household is:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Pregnancy | Available to Young Adult and older Zois through romantic interactions between partners or spouses. See Pregnancy. |
Create a Family | When starting a new game or adding members to an existing household through character creation, players can create Child, Teenager, or older Zois and assign them as household members. |
Move-in | Zois with strong enough relationships can ask others to move into their household through social interactions. |
Community requests
Adoption is a frequently requested feature in the inZOI community, particularly from players who want single-parent households, same-sex families with children, or simply an alternative to the pregnancy gameplay loop. The feature's absence has been noted in reviews as one of the content gaps typical of Early Access.
