Job Interviews

Replaced the filename-style recruitment screenshot alt text with a description.
Job interviews were introduced for the new careers in v0.8.0 (April 29, 2026). They were originally announced for inZOI, listed in the Q1 section of the 2026 roadmap as part of an enhanced job system supporting "multiple jobs, interviews, remote work, and performance evaluation." The original Early Access application flow described below used the Career app on the smartphone for instant hiring. It should not be applied to every current career: the new v0.8.0 careers require an interview before acceptance.
The new careers covered by the v0.8.0 interview requirement are Researcher, IT Developer, Architect, Music Producer, and Journalist in Dowon and Bliss Bay, plus Travel Agent in Cahaya. Apply for an interview, then impress the interviewer to be accepted.
The existing job application system works as follows:

Press P to open the smartphone, or click the smartphone icon.
Open the Career app.
Browse available positions in the Recruitment tab. Jobs are filtered by your Zoi's city (Dowon or Bliss Bay).
Select a job listing and click Apply.
In the original application flow, a text message confirms hiring within a few minutes. For the new v0.8.0 careers, apply for an interview and impress the interviewer before work can begin.
The work schedule appears on the Zoi's calendar, and they can begin working on their next scheduled day.
There are minimal requirements for getting hired. The primary qualification is age: most careers require the Young Adult through Middle-Aged life stages. The Idol Trainee career at Adam Entertainment is restricted to Young Adults only. Part-time jobs are available to a broader age range. This original flow did not require skill levels, educational background, or prior experience for initial employment. The interview requirement for the new v0.8.0 careers is a separate process.
Applying for a new job automatically resigns your Zoi from their current position. There is no two-week notice period. The transition is immediate, and the Zoi begins their new career on the next scheduled workday. You can view your current employment status in the My Career tab of the Career app and click Resign on the left side to voluntarily quit without applying elsewhere.
Career type alone does not establish whether a current job has an interview. The original application flow and the interview requirement for the new v0.8.0 careers must be distinguished:
Career Type | Description | Hiring Process |
|---|---|---|
Active (on-site) | Your Zoi commutes to the workplace. You directly control them and complete tasks during work hours. Examples: Firefighter, Idol Trainee, Amusement Park Worker. | Original roles used instant acceptance. The new v0.8.0 careers require an interview. |
Rabbit hole (off-site) | Your Zoi takes a taxi to work and disappears inside the building until their shift ends. You receive periodic updates via notifications. Examples: Lawyer, Developer, Soldier. | Original roles used instant acceptance. The new v0.8.0 careers require an interview. |
Part-time | Shorter hours, fewer promotion steps. Available at convenience stores, delis, fast food, and surf shops. | Original roles used instant acceptance. The new v0.8.0 careers require an interview. |
The original absence-based termination rule uses a three-strike system. If a Zoi accumulates three unexcused absences from work, they are fired. A text message notifies you of the termination. The original description did not include a performance review. From v0.8.0, tardiness and absence negatively affect evaluations, and insufficient performance can lead to dismissal.
After being fired, a Zoi can immediately apply for a new job through the Career app. There is no cooldown period, and previous termination does not affect future hiring prospects.
The 2026 roadmap, published by director Kjun on December 26, 2025, confirms that the job system will be enhanced to include interviews as part of the hiring process. This falls under the Q1 2026 career system overhaul, which also includes:
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Job interviews | - a hiring process beyond instant acceptance. The exact format has not been detailed, but interviews imply that Zois will need to meet certain criteria or perform well in an evaluation before being offered a position. |
Multiple jobs | - the ability to hold more than one job at a time, allowing Zois to combine part-time, freelance, and full-time work. |
Remote work | - the ability to work from home as part of a traditional career. See Remote Work. |
Performance evaluation | - formal review systems for career progression. See Performance Reviews. |
The school update preview cycle added a related design note: the developers want school performance to influence later life, giving the example that strong high school grades may help a character perform better in future job interviews. This connection was described as a design goal for the school update era, not a shipped mechanic.
Browse all available careers before applying. The Recruitment tab shows positions across all employers in your city.
Consider whether you want an active or rabbit hole career. Active careers offer faster promotions (3 to 4 working days vs. 8 to 10 for rabbit hole) but require hands-on task management.
Applying for a new job automatically quits your current one. Make sure you want to switch before clicking Apply.
Part-time jobs have fewer promotion tiers but provide flexible income alongside other activities.
Building skills before starting a career means faster promotions once hired, even though skills are not required for the initial application.
