Tool Blueprints
November 2, 2026 at 06:48 AM
Distinguish named smith recipes from the Kuku Pot quest, correct Turnali's named request and retain older tool-performance claims as earlier accounts.
Tool Blueprints in Crimson Desert are diagrams that guide players in crafting tools, projectiles, and special utility items. The selected recipe requires its listed materials. The ammunition and cloak records below list crafting at a Smithy, while the Kuku Pot has its separate Kilnden quest and named crafting record. The older every-blueprint/any-town station rule is not established for all special items. Tools serve dual purposes in the game, supporting both daily activities like gathering and combat functions like ammunition resupply.

Tool blueprints can be obtained by purchasing them from vendors or by exploring Pywel. For Crafting Manuals, the equipment crafting guide instructs reading the corresponding recipe or blueprint to unlock it. The older rule that every used blueprint is permanently learned and freely sellable remains a broader account; check the selected document and sale options rather than infer every quest item can be sold.
Projectile blueprints are among the most commonly used tool recipes. Players who rely on ranged weapons need a steady supply of ammunition, and crafting projectiles at the Smithy is the most cost-effective method.
Projectile | Ingredients | Notes | |
|---|---|---|---|
Smithy | Standard ammunition for bows; timber obtained by chopping trees | ||
Smithy | Ammunition for firearms; gunpowder purchased from merchants or crafted | ||
Smithy | Heavy ordnance; requires significant material investment |
Keep a reserve of arrows and bullets in your inventory at all times. Running out of ammunition during an encounter forces you to switch to melee combat, which may not suit every build.
Beyond basic projectiles, tool blueprints include recipes for unique utility items that provide gameplay advantages outside of direct combat.

The Scarecrow Cloak is a stealth utility item crafted at the Smithy. When Kliff stands still while wearing the cloak, enemies have a harder time detecting him. This makes it useful for scouting enemy camps, avoiding unwanted fights, and setting up ambushes.
Item | Ingredients | Effect | |
|---|---|---|---|
Hay x5, Cloth Pieces x10 | Smithy | Reduces enemy detection when stationary |
The cloak only works while stationary. Moving breaks the concealment effect. It pairs well with ranged weapon builds that benefit from initiating combat from a hidden position.
The Kuku Pot (also called the Kuku Iron Pot) is obtained during the Chapter 4 main story sequence containing "The Mysterious Pot". Its recorded four missions are Kilnden Workshop, Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop, The Mysterious Pot and The Pot's Use. The earlier global Mission 49 number is not independently checked here. The artisan is Grimnir, an NPC wearing a Visione helmet in the Hernand region according to the earlier location note.
Item | Ingredients | Obtained Via | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Grimnir (main quest) | Earlier portable-crafting description: infinite internal space for reshaping materials |
The Kuku Pot is described in its item record as having "infinite space that defies the laws of nature." Earlier guidance called it a portable crafting station allowing Kliff to reshape and combine materials in the field without visiting a town Smithy. That broad all-field-crafting account remains earlier guidance. Its quest record instead has the artisan demonstrate fitting a huge boulder inside. The earlier sealing account also describes using the Axiom Force grapple ability to seal Abyss Cells inside the pot and craft new contraptions from captured mechanisms.
The three ammunition records match the quantities above: Arrow uses 5 Timber and 1 Iron Ore; Bullet uses 2 Iron Ore and 4 Gunpowder; Small Cannonball uses 10 of each. The Scarecrow Cloak record lists 5 Hay and 10 Cloth Piece, with the Scarecrow Cloak Blueprint required to learn the recipe. Its description gives reduced detection while standing still. The separate Kuku Pot recipe record lists 5 Iron Ore and 5 Timber under its own crafting label; those ingredients are not asserted to be a mandatory objective in every mission of its four-part acquisition sequence.

The named request guide locates the smith Turnali near central Hernand Town. It asks for three Fine Timber and then reading Turnali's Smithy Flyer. Earlier notes instead called the blacksmith "Smithy" and made a repair quest a prerequisite for all weapons and equipment, describing a broken hammer. Keep that older name and repair-then-unlock workflow as unverified guidance; it is not the documented Turnali request or proof that every local forge has the same restricted menu.
Just outside the blacksmith's shop, the friendly NPC Rhett runs the Hernand Equipment Shop where you can purchase crafting books and ready-made equipment.
The core materials for tool blueprints are gathered through life skills:
Material | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
Chop trees with an axe (Woodcutting) | Common material; used in arrows and the Kuku Pot | |
Used in all projectile recipes and many equipment crafts | ||
Purchased from merchants or crafted | Required for bullets and cannon balls | |
Gathered from fields and farmland | Used in the Scarecrow Cloak | |
Vendors, loot drops, textile merchants | Used in the Scarecrow Cloak and armor crafting |
Earlier tool-performance account: Tool quality affects gathering efficiency. A Masterwork Pickaxe mines nodes in about 2 seconds and yields 3 to 5 Iron Ore per node, with chances for a Critical Harvest bonus. Basic tools are slower and produce less material per node.
Craft arrows and bullets in bulk during town visits. Having a large reserve prevents ammunition shortages during long exploration sessions.
The Scarecrow Cloak is most effective when paired with a bow or firearm. Open combat from stealth for bonus damage before enemies detect you.
Complete Grimnir's quest as soon as it becomes available. The Kuku Pot's earlier portable-crafting recommendation was to save frequent town trips; the named quest demonstration does not independently establish that every smith recipe becomes field-craftable.
Iron Ore is the most commonly required material for tool blueprints. Memorize a mining route near Hernand to keep your supply topped off.
Resource nodes in Crimson Desert have fixed positions on the map. Once you memorize a farming route, the nodes will always be in the same spot after they respawn.
Upgrade your gathering tools as you progress. Higher-tier pickaxes and axes dramatically improve yield and speed.
