Priden is one of the five standard horse breeds in Crimson Desert. It features average health and stamina but stands out for its improved handling and jump power. Thanks to its unique High Jump skill, Priden excels in mountainous terrain like Pailune, where vertical movement is frequently required. It is the premier standard horse for exploration in areas with significant elevation changes.
The table below shows the full stat growth from Level 1 through Level 5:
Level | HP | Stamina | Attack | Defense | Speed | Accel | Handling | Jump |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Lv. 1 | 400 | 195 | 10 | 60 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
Lv. 2 | 420 | 210 | 12 | 63 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
Lv. 3 | 440 | 225 | 16 | 66 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
Lv. 4 | 470 | 240 | 19 | 69 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 2 |
Lv. 5 | 520 | 270 | 23 | 72 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 4 |
There are three main ways to get a Priden horse:

Tame in the Wild: Wild Priden horses roam throughout the map, commonly found near rivers and open plains. Approach one and jump on its back to start the horse taming minigame. Keep the camera behind the horse and move in the opposite direction to where the horse is facing relative to your camera position until the taming bar fills. Priden horses are relatively common spawns in grassy lowlands and river valleys.
Purchase from Stables: Stable vendors in major towns sometimes sell Priden horses for silver. This is the most convenient option but more expensive than taming one in the wild.
Steal from NPCs: Priden horses can be stolen from bandits on the road or NPCs in towns. Equip a mask before stealing, and be aware that theft increases your bounty.
Priden has the following base stats at Level 1. Its handling and jump power are the highest among standard breeds, while its movement speed and acceleration are on the lower end.
Compared to Brianto (300 HP / 150 Stamina), Priden is noticeably more durable with 400 Health and 195 Stamina. It also has double the Defense at 60 versus Brianto's 30. The trade-off is lower movement speed, making Priden slower on flat terrain but far more capable in hilly or mountainous regions.
As you level up your Priden through riding, feeding, and caressing, it unlocks the following skills. Priden's signature abilities are High Jump and Double Jump, which set it apart from every other standard breed.
Icon | Level | Skill | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lv. 2 | Dash | Can move fast |
| Lv. 3 | Drift | Slide while moving quickly |
| Lv. 3 | Back Kick | Kick an enemy behind you |
| Lv. 4 | Sprint | Can move very fast |
| Lv. 5 | Swimming III | Can move faster in the water |
| Lv. 5 | Quick Start | Set off quickly when starting to move |
| Lv. 5 | High Jump | Jump high and far |
| Lv. 5 | Jump while in midair one more time |
High Jump is the defining skill of the Priden breed. It allows the horse to leap to significantly greater heights and distances than a normal jump, reaching elevated platforms and cliffside paths that other breeds cannot access. When combined with Double Jump, Priden can clear gaps and vertical obstacles that would otherwise require dismounting and climbing on foot.
Priden is the ideal horse for players who spend a lot of time exploring mountainous regions. The following areas benefit heavily from Priden's jumping capabilities:
Silver Wolf Mountain: Steep cliffs and elevated resource nodes are much easier to reach with High Jump.
Steel Mountains: The terrain around the Spire of Insight has many vertical shortcuts.
Pailune Cliffs: The rocky terrain of Pailune is designed with vertical exploration in mind.
Abyss Cresset Locations: Many Abyss Cresset fast travel points sit on elevated platforms that High Jump can reach directly.
For flat terrain speed, Brianto or the legendary Royler are better choices. Priden is a specialist, not a general-purpose speed mount.
Horses gain experience through three methods, listed from fastest to slowest:
Feeding: The fastest method. Give your horse food items like apples and carrots.
Caressing: Target your horse and press R to pet it. Free XP at no resource cost.
Riding: Passive XP from simply traveling on horseback. Slowest method.
Priden can be equipped with horse items at stables:
Caparisons: Cosmetic appearance changes.
Horseshoes: Speed bonuses that help compensate for Priden's lower base movement speed.
Saddles: Stamina bonuses for longer sprinting and jumping sessions.
Stirrups: Handling bonuses, further enhancing Priden's already strong handling stat.
Priden is one of the four tamable horse breeds required for the Harmonious Hooves challenge #7. You must ride each of the four tamable breeds (Brianto, Priden, Elantrima, and Numont) for over 100 meters each to complete this challenge.
Priden's High Jump skill is especially useful for reaching Abyss Cresset locations on elevated platforms without dismounting.
If you plan to explore Pailune extensively, taming a Priden early saves a lot of climbing time.
Equip horseshoes to offset Priden's lower base speed. A well-equipped Priden can keep up with other breeds on flat ground.
Wild Priden horses are most commonly found near rivers and in open plains areas. Look for them in grassy lowlands.
Back Kick (unlocked at Level 3) is useful for mounted combat when enemies approach from behind.
Priden's higher base Defense (60) and Health (400) make it more durable than Brianto (30 Defense, 300 HP) during mounted combat encounters.
Invest in the Abyss Tree mount nodes for additional stat improvements that stack with equipment.
